If they really want to make NASCAR more interesting, half the cars should race clockwise around the track while the other half races in the opposite direction. First one to complete 500 laps is the winner.

My daughter does that on her NASCAR racing game on the computer. If she can't run with them, and they are passing her, she'll run backwards around the track, crashing them out, and then complete the race and win.
