View Full Version : The Rangers are blowing it big time.

I fear the Rangers blowing it big time. Their first trip ever in franchise history to the World Series and they are down 2-0 in the first two games of the World Series. They played a respectable game yesterday and were evening winning it for a while. But, what the f--- happened tonight? A 9 – 0 shutout! Are you kidding me? Who was that relief pitcher they put in the 8th inning? Holland, Hamilton, something like that. He threw only 1 strike out of 13 pitches which resulted in loading the bases on three walks. How can you be in the major leagues and pitch that badly? OK, I know it’s easy to be an armchair critic but I had such high hopes for our Rangers. Excuse me but I had to vent. I’m still counting on them to find a way to win. They’ve come from behind before to pull it out in the end. I’m wondering, do you think prayer would help in something like this?

Take it from a Cleveland "everything" fan. It don't help. :))

After all, what if someone from the Giants said one too? How would God decide who should lose?

That one is easy to answer. SF would have lost because everyone knows that "Texas" is God's Country!!!!!:thumbsup

If that's the case, I'd ask you to explain the Cowboys, but this is the World Series section, so that would be :offtopic

Calm down...the series is not over yet...granted it would have been nice to split the first two games but I dont believe the rangers are blowing it...they have faced two pretty darn good pitchers the first two games...and for the most part the rangers' pitchers have done a great job except for two innings out of 18...the holland pitcher has pitched exceptional during the playoffs and had one bad outing...i look for the rangers to pick up at least two wins at home and could also win all three games at home...the series will make it back to san francisco

RooDawg - You're right. Rick and Dave- see, prayer does work. That was a beautiful Ranger win tonight. I absolutely loved, loved, loved it.

It's only baseball. Does it matter? ;)

Game 4 tonight was a disappointment but an enjoyable disappointment. What I mean is that even though we lost, it was great spectator baseball. We saw some really fantastic plays tonight. We also saw a rookie pitcher (Bumgarner) that proved why he not only deserved to be in the majors, but deserved to start in the World Series. That kid was unbelievable. To bad he was playing for the Giants instead of the Rangers. I'm still hoping against hope that the Rangers can pull it out, but if I were in Vegas my money would be on the Giants.

Wasn't so good tonight, though. They're in a big hole.

I'm just saying that the quality of the baseball was excellent, not the outcome of the game. You're right Dave, they're in a big hole. But, we can hope can't we?

Good pitching will always win over good hitting...a pitcher who is on can give up hits but wont give up too many consecutive hits that creates runs...

But they are one of two teams still playing at this time of the year. That is better than the Yankees, Phillies, Redsucks, and many more overpaid teams.:thumbsup:thumbsup

If the Rangers can win it tonight, they will head back to SF for game 6. With Cliff Lee on the mount, I like the Rangers chances in game 6. Very rarely does he pitch two bad games in a row. That would then lead to game 7. Throw the dice.

I hope they can squeeze Colby Lewis back into the mix as well. Wilson pitched pretty good as well, he just didn't get the run support. There's a slim ray of hope if they can get the bats going early.

Well, the Rangers lost. Hey, they made it to the World Series. That's a huge deal in it's own right. Even though I wanted them to win I'm still proud of them. I have to give credit to the Giants. They won this series fair and square. They were the better team. I'm in awe of the Giants bull pin. With pitching like that they were bound to win.

I was watching the game at the Cove VFW. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, they chose to pitch rather than walk the batter. One of the guys there said "don't throw a fastball". Lee did. Goodbye championship.
But give SF some credit. Good pitching stops good hitting, and they certainly proved that.

The Rangers had a great season. They, based on the playoffs, the best team in the AL and #2 overall. Now if the NCAA football powers that be would just get on the same band wagon. Determine the best on the field, not some flippin' poll.

A writer at the Dallas Morning News made the comment after the Rangers won the league series that, back when then-owner of the Rangers, Tom Hicks, made that gigantic deal to get Alex Rodriguez, Hicks boasted that A-Rod would be an asset to the Rangers, and that Alex would "get the Rangers into the World Series."

Anybody remember who that last Yankee batter was?:):thumbsup

CenTexDave

None other than the overpaid Alex Rodriguez. lol

Say what you want, but the score as far as world series rings is:

A-Rod: 1
Rangers: 0

Is it A-Rod's fault that they didn't get to the world series? Check out the stats. Roids or not, he was a monster in Arlington.

I find it pretty funny that all of you capitalists complain about the Yankees and their payroll. They're not breaking a single rule. They're incredibly successful fiscally and they put their money into their team. Should ownership just bank their cash and put a mediocre team on the field?

The problem with the system is that small market teams like Pittsburgh, KC, Cleveland, etc can't compete in bidding for these superstars. Pittsburgh lost Barry Bonds. KC lost a few good players. Cleveland lost Thome, Manny Ramirez, C.C. Sabatthia and Cliff Lee.
Put those four players back on the Indians roster and they would have won a World Series or two.

Did I miss the message where someone was complaining about the Yankee's payroll.

If you ask me, they aren't getting their money's worth. But it's their money.

The good thing about that list is that the Rangers are way on the bottom and should be able to spend some money to bring in more talent!!!

And they did it while being bankrupt all year. Management did a good job of keeping them focused.

I think it's the amount of fight in a man, not what he gets paid that makes the difference.

And NO, I am not jumping on the bandwagon, just noting what I observed.
