BONES!

My elderly mother broke two bones about six weeks ago, one at the base of her thumb and one of the forearm bones. The cast has come off, but she complains of still having considerable pain and tingling/numbness in her thumb. I try to convince her that bones won't heal overnight, especially at her age, and to be patient, but I don't know how long to be patient before considering that there may be a problem with her healing.

Can anyone give me any information about lingering pain following broken bones, especially with elderly?

I'd appreciate your help.
