Just a fascinating bit of info - that swearing can actually reduce one's perception of pain:

There are a number of articles on this - most of them emphacise that it is only if you don't regularly swear. That once swearing has no negative connotation for you, it will be less effective in reduction of pain.

So - let the air turn BLUE! <grin>

Mythbusters did a show on this a while back.
Can't really remember if it was busted or plausible.

Thanks - I did not know that. <grin>
I found all the videos and watched them all - what was NOT there was the result - does anyone know if they BUSTED or supported the plausibility of this myth?
