Earlier this year people were discussing ponds and I had mentioned this tour. It is a great way to peek into others backyards and get great ideas. Some are teenie tiny and others are extravagant, some are converted swimming pools. If you have GPS on your phone or a portable navigation system I would highly recommend bringing it, but they do give you a map to follow too.

Here's the info:

2010 Pond Tour

The 16th Annual Austin Pond Society Pond Tour will be held on Saturday, June 12 (south) and Sunday June 13 (north) from 9 am until 5 pm, with a night tour from 8:00 to 10:30 pm on Saturday, the 12th. It is a great opportunity to see a variety of ponds from small to large, simple to extravagant, Austin-weird and conventional, natural and formal, and owner and professionally built. After taking in the beauty and serenity of ponds on the tour, you will probably want to add one of these beautiful and relaxing water features to your own property.

We anticipate at least 12 ponds to tour each day and 2 on Saturday night. The ponds will be located all over Austin and in neighboring communities. Check back at this website for more information as it becomes available, including pond locations and descriptions, maps and tour guide booklets or contact Cliff Barkley at 789-4703 email cobycliff@hotmail.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or Charles Melear at 784-0237 charlie@thunderbolt.usThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Advanced wristbands will be sold for $12.50 online here or at several area garden centers (to be announced) and at tour ponds on the days of the event for $15; one ticket provides admittance both days and to the night tour. This is a great way to spend a weekend!
