I heard about this from a show on animal planet. I have a small dog (4 lbs); who does this about 7 or 8 times a day, just wondering if this is normal.

Thank you!

My dogs do that to, but not that often. Its a trait of short nosed dogs. Talk to your vet. How old is your dog?

Our Pomeranian did it a lot. I had to give him little allergy pills.

Reverse sneezing is a reflex activity of some dogs when they have a "tickle" in the back of their throat. It is usually seen is small dogs and often they have the smushed noses but not always. It can look kinda scary because they appear to contort and convulse but usually it is no big deal. Some dogs benefit from some allergy meds but others don't need meds at all.

Our beagles do it a lot, but I've always been told it is no big deal. They always have their noses burried in something. I just pet them when they do it, and it stops quickly.
