My son just got braces put on his top teeth today. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make him more comfortable, or do you have any advice for me as a mom. I've never had braces and neither has my husband.

Thanks!

Been there...ugh. NOTHING will help...the pain is something ya just get used to! :thumbsup
Seriously, tomorrow he will hurt more than he does today...but it will dull....

Get wax for those back wires though...they can be brutal!

I guess I'll dose him up with Tylenol before he goes to school.

He needs to eat and chew...work the tenderness out. When my kids got theirs they went back to school the same day...and played in band the next day. The dentist...said you just got to tough it out.

I am wearing braces now.

Got them last Nov. 08.

He needs to chew gum and use the wax sparingly because he really needs to toughen up the skin in his mouth for the long run.

I used the wax in places if the wires were poking till I could get to the dentist for a cut but other than that he needs to use it very little.

The sooner he can toughen up the skin the better.

The sensitivity to cold and heat will also occur as the roots are moving. Straws for drinking helps with that.

Thank you. I am praying this isn't a rough night tonight.
