Having become accustomed to nothing but unconstitutional drivel coming from that state, I was pleasantly surprised by the following news:
In one of the strongest judicial statements in favor of the Second Amendment to date, Judge Roger T. Benitez of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California determined on Friday that California’s ban on commonly possessed firearm magazines violates the Second Amendment.
The case is Duncan v. Becerra (https://www.nraila.org/search/?t=80525).

Of course it is tempered by this news:

The Los Angeles Police Department has moved to cancel most of the few remaining concealed weapons permits in civilian hands, according to new filings in a decades-old legal case.
Chief Michel Moore said in a sworn declaration he did not believe a group of people who obtained so-called CCWs as the result of a 1994 lawsuit were still entitled to the permits, because it was unlikely the individuals still faced extraordinary physical danger to their lives.

but on the same day in the same district, they decided that Trump could not shut down obama care.....ie, even though it was established by executive order, disestablishing it by executive order would be unconstitutional. they must have had to tie themselves into all sorts of pretzels, in chambers, to arrive at that conclusion....mac

but on the same day in the same district, they decided that Trump could not shut down obama care.....ie, even though it was established by executive order, disestablishing it by executive order would be unconstitutional. they must have had to tie themselves into all sorts of pretzels, in chambers, to arrive at that conclusion....mac Well, there may be some changes in store for California.

The Senate is poised this week to consider two more conservative nominees selected by President Trump to sit on the left-leaning 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-picked-ninth-circuit-judge-clears-last-hurdle-to-confirmation-with-more-in-the-pipeline) -- and the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee isn't happy about it.
That's because the nominees, Ken Lee and Dan Collins, were picked without any input from either Dianne Feinstein or Kamala Harris, California's two Democrat senators. Traditionally, the White House seeks to obtain a so-called "blue slip," or approval, from a judicial nominee's two home-state senators before pressing on with their nominations.
But the Trump administration, which has successfully nominated several conservative judges (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/ninth-circuit-gets-another-trump-picked-judge-after-white-house-bypasses-consultation-with-dems) to the 9th Circuit already, has pointedly disregarded that process as it continues its push to transform the appellate court that the president repeatedly has derided as hopelessly biased and "disgraceful." (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-condemns-disgraceful-9th-circuit-dubbing-it-rubber-stamp-for-his-foes)
"I take it that without notice or discussion, the blue slip is essentially dead," Feinstein, the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in televised remarks on Thursday (https://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=FC72B8F3-0853-4168-959D-B1C9A237BD31). "This change in practice not only harms the Senate, it harms the federal judiciary. And I wish we could’ve had an opportunity to discuss it. I really believe it’s a mistake."
Feinstein went on: "Before President Trump took office, the blue slip had been a Senate practice for nearly one century. And during the past 100 years, before this presidency, the Senate confirmed only five judges with only one blue slip, and the last one was in 1989 – and in 100 years the Senate had never confirmed a judge without two blue slips."
But "since President Trump took office," Feinstein charged, "Republicans have held hearings for 12 circuit court nominees and voted to confirm seven – seven – over the objection of home-state Democrats."

"Traditions" are a curious thing, especially when compared to things like the constitution of the United States which appears to be subject to complete disregard.

They just did the same thing for Texas and named a few more conservative judges to the seat. One picked by Cornyn and the other requested by Cruz. I suppose it is traditional to select nominees that are approved by the local senators, but it is not written in stone. Trumps appointments will change a lot of the character of the upper level courts for at least a decade or so.

California is a lost cause. Obamacare was introduced and passed, illegally in the opinion of most, and needed a fink traitor in the SCOTUS to pass. Roberts turned tail and caved on this one, making republicans just about as mad as we got when the traitor McCain thumbs downed the repeal a while back. That was also a major upset for conservatives, but then McCain was never really a republican but a democrat in republicans clothing all along anyhow. Roberts was known to be liberal in a lot of his opinions too. The republican president who appointed him should have got a refund on that one.

DACA was another unconstitutional passing that was not challenged enough too. And look what that has wrought us.
