Just watched one of my favorite youtube channels, Hickok45, and he kind of gave a quick class on what goes on in cowboy action shooting matches. I was wondering if there were anything like that here in central Texas. It looks like fun.

Do you have a link to that? You can post the YouTube address in between video tags and youtube window will display on your message.

Since I don't know if this is the video he wanted to talk about, I will put it in a normal URL tag so you can go there.
If it is the right one, he can always put it in video tags next time he posts.

While there, I saw a couple more good ones. Safety, Safety, Safety.
This on is just some gee wiz, since it is for an open bolt machine gun pistol:

But the next one is for anyone with a spiffy new simi-auto pistol who hasn't had the experience of that first time to the range:

But both are the same lesson: Know your weapons. And train yourself on their use.

I've heard about something like this from a friend of mine who has a 45 long colt rifle and pistol just so he can compete in matches where the cartridges for the pistol and rifle have to be the same.

He said he goes to local matches where interested, like minded folks shoot for time and accuracy.

If you can find out where these local matches are, maybe you could ask if they allow spectators.

Well, I haven't seen this guy in a year or more, and don't know when or where they meet. But he did ask me if I would come out and watch, so I assume they welcome all who want to enjoy the show.

Check out www.sassnet.com. Home of the Single action shooting society which governs cowboy action shooting. Has links to all the different state. Cowboy action shooting clubs. Be forewarned, getting hooked can get expensive.

True that. But for the cowboy action stuff, I plan to just watch.
When I shoot, my goals are practical.
Thanks for the link.

Mine too... That's why all my targets have a turban and a beard on them.
