Does anyone use essential oils? I have been thinking about trying a few out for me and also for my dogs.

Never used essential oils.
Is it used like a lotion?

I am a great believer in natural remedies. If you come across one for aching joints please let me know.

I wish the doc my grandparents took me to as a kid was still alive. All he did was look at your urine and he knew what would help. His teas and pills were all natural. Ok some of the teas were nasty, but they worked. While not curing cancer, he could fix irritable bowels, frequent urination and all other minor problems you see commercials for on TV. (I'm not joking).

Aunts would force me to take this stuff for constipation. hated it.

There’s a reason why some old remedies have staying power – some of them are beneficial. The medicinal use of castor oil, for example, goes back to the ancient Egyptians and in modern times it has been used externally by many cultures for healing everything from burns, cuts and abrasions to muscle pains and inflammation. There are even claims that it can help relieve sciatica (http://www.castoroilhome.com/how-castor-oil-helps-the-sciatic-nerve). It is not, however, recommended for internal use.

Essential oils are such as peppermint or eucalyptus to be used topically for pain or digestion etc.

I always have my mom bring a big tube of cod liver oil cream when she comes to visit. For some reason I can get cod liver oil pills to take but not the highly concentrated cream.

It works wonders on a raw nose for a cold, diaper rash, wind burn, minor burns, etc.

Stinks to high heaven, but it works. One of the diaper creams has a small percentage of it, but this stuff is magic. Vaseline with cod liver oil.

This peaked my interest so I read about the uses and qualities of oils and manufacturers. I think I read about oils for an hour last night. Some of the sites:
