Final: Cove - 41, UNAL-17

Waco beat Ellison 28-14.

Despite the score, we actually stayed to the end of the Ellison game...The offense needs a running game in the worst way, but the D looked fantastic, despit the score.

I was watching the Eagle Coaches during the game, and saw the new head coach talk to the players one on one many times during the game. Compassionate and instructive, not a bully like his running backs coach, who made a very tasteless display of anger at oneplayer chewing him outloudly and violently after he blew a 2 yard run.

If it would have been me, that would have been the last time I ran for that man. It was cruel and uncalled for. It was nothing short of abusive. And in front of the entire crowd and student body. You could hear it all the way to the upper levels. Head coach and the quarterback both came over and talked to this player after a few minutes and put some salve on the wounds...Good show coach.

But all in all, the Eagles are looking like a whole different team, and the new coach knows exactly where they need improvement. We'll get 'em next time.
