This year is the 19th annual tour, featuring 21 ponds. As always, we have a wide assortment of large and small ponds, both pro-built and DIY, all of them spectacular. Some of the DIY ponds you won't believe were not built by a professional crew. There is even a home with a very modern take on our favorite garden feature - its entire entry courtyard is a tiled formal koi pond, with a marble slab walkway suspended above it.

General Information

The Austin Pond Tour is a self-guided driving tour, meaning you can visit these locations at your own pace, in your own car, in any order. However, the pond numbers have been organized in such a way as to cover all the ponds in the easiest manner. Directions are given from major intersections, but of course, you may circumvent these directions with shortcuts depending on the order that you visit each pond.

Tour Dates and Times

Saturday, June 8 — North Austin (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Saturday Night — Night pond locations (8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.)

We went out today and didn't get to see all of the Saturday showings because of our late start but we still managed to visit quite a few. I noticed that I'm apparently a little too young to enter into the world of ponding...all of these pond owners were well "seasoned" in life! There were some pretty impressive ponds on display and oddly enough, the better ones were done by the owners and not the professionals.
