Florida Keys?

Has anyone vacationed there? I've always wanted to go there. We are thinking about a vacation package, flight and hotel for a week in Key Largo is about $800 per person.

We figure that we'd fly into Miami, stay in Key Largo and do day trips to Key West and Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, etc. Not to mention some deep sea fishing.

Any suggestions on things to see and do?

I've been thinking of going too. Key West is about a 9 hour drive from where I live.
But, other than that, it has not gone anywhere.

I spent a day on Key West. Just enough time to want to get the hell out of there! T-O-U-R-E-S-T T-R-A-P !!!!

I hate the tourist traps too. Hawaii had plenty, but it had plenty of genuine local culture. We need a place to go and relax, without trying to see and do too much.

Check out the Gulf Coast - Sanibel Island off of fort Myers. Great place.
