That sucks that Killeen's game is going to be on a Friday night...there's no way I'll be able to make it to Waxahachie in time! So much for the playoff games being on a neutral site, Mansfield is less than 25 miles away from Waxahachie...

It's probably about as neutral as could be found for the first round. Remember - there are 128 teams in the playoffs in 5-A, so the first round will be at venues not normally used. Throw in 4-A and 3-A and it just creates a nightmare for scheduling and finding a "neural" stadium close enough to both teams.
Good luck to the Roos.

There's a nice brand new stadium on FT Hood that would've been perfect!! :))
Just kidding...

The idea was for everyone to pick their winners.
I'll go with: Killeen over Mansfield, Midway over Midlothian, Cove over Cedar Hill, and - sorry Knights - DeSoto over Harker Heights.

I'll go with your opposites. Want to go $5 each?

Thanks. Listening to it now. Wish I wasn't. Killeen is getting stomped due to turnovers. 20-7 at the half.

Yep and there is 4 minutes left. They need to get another td for that comfort zone.

It's over in Waxahachie. 41-21 Mansfield beats Killeen. Too many turnovers.

Midway won.

Had to come from behind to do it, but a win is a win.
Others of interest:
Gatesville beats Alvarado, 48-28
Pflugerville scores with 30 seconds left to go ahead of Lake Travis, 23-20. But Travis can score quick.

Lake Travis completes a couple long passes, and with the clock expiring throws a Hail Mary. Their WR catches it out of the end zone. Coaches screaming for a review. Pflugerville beats a top 10 team!!!
Sorry, boys - ain't no reviews in high school football. Welcome to 5-A Lake Travis. :))

Wow! Good night in P-ville! Hendrickson Hawks also won. This is their first year as a 5A school too.

I think Pville Hendrickson's score was reversed. Austin Westlake beat them.

The other Pflugerville - forget the name right now - also won. So 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Both Cove and Heights lost today.
DeSoto rolled it up on Heights, 62-15. For a while the Knights were making a game of it, but had to stop listening to the radio because I went to the VFW for the Thanksgiving party.
Cove lost to Cedar Hill, 35-28. Cedar Hill jumped to a big 28-7 halftime lead, so Cove almost made a comeback.
I really can't comment on any of the action in the Cove game.
Not a good showing for 8-5A at all. Glad Midway won last night, but even they had to come from behind.

Even though Heights got slaughtered I'm glad they had a chance to play the #1 ranked team in the state and #7 in the country (source: Maxpreps. Results vary based on the rater.) De Soto is a powerhouse... on the field anyway. Their academic results are a different story. I'm surprised they can field a team.

They were highly ranked last year also, but never made it beyond the area round.

I doubt that anyone cares, but both De Soto and Midway have advanced to round 3.

Midway beat Colleyville Heritage, a good team. A Midway-Abilene game is on the horizon. That should be good.

Allen manhandled Coppell, who was ranked ahead of them.

Dave, it was Desoto that manhandled Coppell. The game was played in Allen though.

Latest and the greatest about the high school playoffs:
Midway defeated Abilene. Then Cedar Hill, which had to hang on against Cove, beat Midway. Cedar Hill will play Katy for the Div II championship next Saturday.
In Div I Allen beat Southlake Carroll in a shootout, then last night beat the number 1 team in the country, DeSoto. I forget who they will play next weekend for the championship, but it shouldn't matter. lol

You're right, sorry.
My sympathies to Houston Lamar. :))
Katy takes on Cedar Hill for the Div II championship. That should be a good game.

Played out as expected, although Cedar Hill did give Katy a battle for a while.
To add insult to injury, USA Today awards the #1 high school ranking in nation to some school in Washington.
I cannot recall a year in the past in which Texas had so many powerhouse teams.
