Was it just me or were the opening ceremonies for the most part boring and weird? Way too many commercials during the teams walking in too.
I really enjoy them most of the times, but not tonight.
Can't wait for the competitions to start.

I think this is the first one I have ever watched and I really liked it. I loved the Industrial Revolution part and also the storytelling act. My favorite was Frankie & June Thanks Tom. I loved that! I watched the first few minutes of the parade then hit the FF button.

My least favorite was McCartney. Just not a fan of him or The Beatles no matter how hard I try. More of a Doors and Elvis kinda gal.

We enjoyed it. It was quirky and fun, with some surprises. I hated the "face dresses" worn by the gals who carried the teams' country names, though. Ugly. I always loved the Beatles, and Paul's hair still looks mahvelous :))
I never liked "Hey Jude," particularly, but at least everyone could sing along.

Sir Paul choked up at the sight of all those people from every corner of humanity together in one place at the beginning of his act. Almost couldn't get the words out. I thought "hands across the waters" would have been more appropriate, yet I'd be willing to bet almost everyone in that stadium knew the words to hey Jude. Truly humanity at its best. No guns, no wars, just people coming together. Beautiful.

Don't mean to do that Mac fer sure...It just gets me deep down inside when I see what the world could be like if we all weren't so stupid. What a thought...one world at peace. Gene Roddenberry would have been proud.

I loved Paul McCartney. He's past his prime, but still memorable.

I'm glad some of you enjoyed the show.

I loved the queen's corgis! My current boy is closely related to at least one of her dogs (same sire.)
As for the rest of the night, some good, some not so good.
And nothing quite says "U.S.A." more than a blue berret, eh?

Will Farrell was on Letterman before the Games, modeling an Olympic beret. He said, "Hit it, Paul," and as the band struck up the theme from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," he stood up and flung it into the air.

Very funny if you are of a "certain age" or a fan of re-runs.

The polish mens gymnastics team had the worst...The red "speedos" had a tendency to over highlight certain areas of the anatomy, making their picture ops look semi pornographic. Black speedos are the cure for that problem. Still, the polish ladies seemed particularly fond of having large posters of the guys up at work...Until the bosses made them take them down.
