I thought this board was started to exchange ideas and viewpoints.
Now you have become like the Killeen Daily Herald's comment forums.
Just because a few people don't agree with what he said, and I believe that he just plain did not express himself well and it came out wrong, you delete him.

Yes. I did. And yes, I will continue to do so. ON THIS TOPIC.

And no, I will not apologize for it.

We are not discussing an inane subject, we are disussing a young man's life. Respect is the word, not someone pushing for an argument.

I moved these posts here so that our actions can be discussed.

Like I said in that thread, this tragedy touches a lot of people in the community and on this site. Let's give those who are sad a venue to express their sorrow without negative dscussion. I don't think thta is too much to ask.

I don't think it means the end of CTT as we know it. Things like this are different and very sensitive.

Thanks

Rick

rick: might it not be helpful to post the posts that you found objectionable with explanations as to what made them objectionable? it would certainly help me, that's for sure......mac (to be honest and frank with you i did not know that that other chain was meant to be a venue for folks to express their sorrow....i had no idea that that was what it was for.........mac (what happened to the deleted posts? are they forever lost in cyber space?)

It has been pointing out to you in the KHS thread and others but you refuse to see it. If you don't want to acknowledge it no once can change that. It's already been attempted and it was a wasted effort. Just like this conversation.

mac, It doesn't matter to me that you stopped your formal education in the 6th grade, what matters to me is that you think everyone is against you. I don't think that's the case. Where your problems began was when you said something about wanting to look at the toxicology report before we heaped on the laurels. THAT was a dumb thing to say. Not because you are dumb, I'm certain you aren't, but because sometimes it's better just to keep quiet. I don't really know in what context that would have been okay to say. This was a young man that had every right to be where he was. He wasn't breaking any laws, and that comment was completely uncalled for. Just because you CAN say something, doesn't mean you should. I'm sure you didn't mean to sound callous, that's why I tried to give you the hint about the foot in your mouth.

why are all you all avoiding showing me my "accusatory" post? it woulkd be much easier to do that than to dance all around it. show me the beef!......how in the world can i do a mea culpa if you won't even show me the sin?.......some of you guys are worse than the inquisitors.......PLEASE tell me what accusation i made that was inappropriate so i don't repeat my error.......mac

See above. It doesn't get any plainer than that. Your post has been deleted, so I can't quote it and show it to you. If you can't remember typing that, then you might have bigger problems than poor social skills.

well, unlike you i did not and still do not know that "he wasn't breaking any laws".....but i'm starting to get get the drift. it appears as though the forum is drifting into a "political correctness" attitude....don't say anything that might possibly offend someone....and i'm definitly not PC so i'll have to give you that. suggesting that someone, a minor, leaving a club at 2:30 in the morning after having spent the last 6 hours in there .........well, i guess i'll just leave it at that...thanx, tex.....'ppreciate your intents re the hoof and mouth thing too but no problem, i wear the deletions and blocking like a badge.....mac

Good grief. Mac, I don't know why, but I'll try. Remember when you puffed up with indignation when some suggested in another thread that your (once) teenage daughters had, like every other teenage girl in the USA, LIED to you at some point? Some of us assumed that they were capable of mischief.
None of us knew them, but we know human nature.

Now, turn the page. Many of us in Killeen and KISD do know the Cannon family. You presumed to assume that the victim and his sister had some responsibility. You implied late hours in a club. Long hours in a club. Suggested a toxicology report. Suggested enabling by the older sister. And now, after your hand is called on all the above, you have the unmitigated temerity to suggest this is political correctness?

Don't even go there. You are acting like a rude pig.

I agree with TI. Your statement about waiting for the toxicology reports before heaping laurels was a dumb thing to say. It was also callous and unfair. Let's assume the worst, that the reports come back to show that he had been drinking or had drugs in his system. That would not mean that he deserved to die that night, nor would it erase 18 years of being a "good" kid. He would still deserve to be remembered for a life well-lived, not for one night of self-indulgence and lack of good judgment.

Also, mac, as has been pointed out, there are people on this forum who knew him and who know his family. They are grieving for their friends, and your attitude is thoughtless and hurtful. Isn't it ironic that you are so quick to play the "wounded CTT poster" ("they're all gangin' up on me"...mac) but are also so quick to hurt others with your unfeeling remarks? Parents lost their son. Siblings lost their brother. Try biting your tongue while you step off that high horse.

One more thing, I don't buy the aw-shucks-uneducated-persona and never have. It takes a quick mind and fast fingers to leave off all those letters at the beginning and end of words....complete with apostrophes in all the right places.

it's jus' irritatin'.

It cracked me up when I read this last night. My friends and I were laughing about this and we said the same thing! I said that there is no way it is easier to type that way. It is darn near IMPOSSIBLE on a smart phone with autocorrect, not to mention the amount of time it takes to add the punctuation...other than the famous....you know....dots....that never end.....
And right before you posted this I was in the middle of a conversation with another user about the same thing! I said if...IF...he really was this mentally low on the totem pole, I might feel bad because he really wouldn't have a clue. But no way in hell he is. He knows exactly what an F.I. he was being. The only thing more irritatin' than stupid people is people who aren't and pretend to be.

I'm not sure, but I think that is about as close to a compliment as you're going to get from Scarlett Mac.. Either that, or you've just been insulted for being a phoney. So, lets see...You are now either an F.I., Or very smart. How about a sexual inellectual?...(An F'n knowitall). Nope, don't need any more of those around here, that's for sure. Obscene namecallers either. Better go find a hidey hole for a while.

yeow, grammar, i remember the liar string...what i don't remember, though, is me gettin' all bent out of shape and calling any of you vile and pornographic names or referring to your lack of intellegence....i don't remember doing any of that.

you say that i presumed to assume that the victim and his sister had some resonsibility. now, just how in the world could you know what i presume to assume? but just to make it clear, no i do not assume....or even believe that his sister(s) had any responsibility what so ever in their brother's shooting....but then again, i was not in the club but then again, it doesn't matter, the only one responsible for the shooting is the shooter.

you say that i implied late hours in a club. i did not imply any thing. the KDH said or implied they were but not me. hell, i wasn't even there!

you say i suggested a toxicology report. nope, i didn't suggest any such thing. i would probly rather that there not even be a toxicology report performed on him. i think you're confusing my suggestion to read the report before telling all of us out here how great a man the victim was....

you say i suggested enabling by the sisters. again, not true...that's something yoiu just flat made up....i didn't suggest anything about the sisters enabling i certainly hope that didn't happen....my goodness, that would be just terrible if that were to have happened......

well, if it's not PC i smell, then maybe it's just that some things are off limits....some folks just naturally hate questions and, i guess, consider a question to be an allegation or statement...or insinuation or anything but a question. actually, come to think of it, i do 'member telling my daughters that some questions are better left unasked..........and then you had the temerity to call me a "pig". my oh my.....sure hope rick doesn't block you for that....he prob'ly won't. i'll ask him not to.....mac
