    Nylon Soaker Hose Find

I was in Austin a couple weeks ago went into a Harbor Freight and picked up some of these, except they were 50 ft long.

We laid them them completely around the house and have them weaving through the flower beds. They provide a thorough soaking which will help prevent foundation problems when it gets dry.

Unlike the rubber soaker hoses, these don't crack in the heat. They lay flat, so leaving them across a sidewalk is not a problem. Rolling them up in the winter will be a breeze.

If they really are nylon, try to keep them in shaded places, as sunlight breaks down anything made of nylon. (Which is one reason 550 cord has a cotton jacket.)

Nothing lasts forever, but these will last a lot longer than the hard rubber crap they sell. Never was able to use one for an entire summer.

Good point. I went through several of those myself,
back during the drought of 05 and 06.

The Item No. is incorrect. The number listed is for a multi-faucet. The correct Item No. for a 50-foot soaker hose is 97193. One problem I'm having now is that there is not enough water pressure in my area of Killeen (Clifton Park) to deploy my irrigation system (not enough pressure to lift the sprinkler heads) thus running 400+ feet of soaker hose does not seem feasible.

Have you notified the water department to see why your pressure is so low?
You need right at 30 PSI for your in-ground sprinkler system to work properly.

Residential Water PSI in Killeen should be between 40 and 45 PSI.

An old rule of thumb was no more than three heads per valve too. A lot of these systems have 6 per valve and I see them struggle.
