It's nothing. It's an amazing structure. Worth seeing.

On our way to visit friends in California, we spent a day in Vegas. We visited the big name casinos, but enjoyed Freemont St. more. Didn't spend a dime gambling.

We enjoyed the drive across Nevada much more. Passing through the ghost towns with boarded up silver mines was more memorable than seeing gondolas with people riding in them at the Venetian. But that's just us. The history of a place and picturing what it was like "back then" is intriguing.

Obviously, Vegas has appeal to a lot of people, I get that, and would go back just for the heck of it and I bet you will have a good time.

Thanks! I'm going to a conference but want to have a little fun site seeing. I'm not a big gambler and know there are soooo many other things to do.

The ghost towns would interest me. Don't know if I'll have time for that but just another reason to go again.

The fountains at Bellagio and the pirate show at Treasure Island are great free things to see on the strip. Those are hard to miss. The MGM Grand has live lions inside. I love lions, so I'm a sucker for that. You can spend a whole day just sight-seeing along the strip. There's free attractions at almost every casino and plenty of shopping along the way.

The Hoover Dam is mighty impressive, but I'm with Rick - drive out there yourself. It's hard to justify the cost of those tours, and the drive is half the fun anyway.

Well if you've never been to Vegas, be sure to explore the OLD strip at least one night. The Fremont Street Experience (light show) is simply incredible.
I went to Vegas for the first time 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. I was on a shoestring budget and still found lots of low-cost and fun things to see; the habitat exhibit at the Flamingo, the beautiful fountains at the Belligo, the shops(window shopping)at Ceasar's Palace,"Big Elvis" at Bill's
Gamblin Hall, just to mention a few. My favorite part was hopping on one of the double decker buses and touring the entire strip; new and old. The older casino's (El Cortez, Golden Nugget, Queens, etc) are wonderfully nostalgic .
The web site I would reccomend for research; ww.CheapoVegas.com gives a list of free and cheap attractions, places to eat and stay with reviews of both.
    Have a great time.
