If it is a Henry, it must be good.

    Thoughts?
I assume it is chambered for 44 Mag, as I have never seen one chambered for 44 Special.

If you are like me, and getting a little slower at focusing on the front site, you might want to put a Red Dot scope on it.

The 44 carbine should be accurate beyond 100 yards, and if you can put the round on target, it still has a lot of punch out beyond 500 yards. But, at that distance, you need a regular scope.

Otherwise, my thought is just enjoy it.

    Were are you?
I mean, if you were in Northern AR, I would know exactly where to send you.

If you are still in Centex area, I believe there is a good gun store in Georgetown or maybe Round Rock, that specialists in selling to cops and veterans.
Yes, mine is chambered for both .44 mag and special. Sadly I'm in the same boat as you with my eyesight. I have a very hard time seeing the front sight, even with my glasses on. I'm definitely going to have to look at an alternative sight system.

I'm in the San Antonio/New Braunfels area. I went out today to Academy and struck out on .44 mag ammo. There were at least 15 people milling about the ammo aisle and it looked like a Wal Mart after a Black Friday sale. The only thing they had in .44 caliber was some .44 special ammo at $30.00 for a box of 20. They had a crap ton of 9MM, .380, .45, .223 ammo though. I'm thinking I'm going to have to find some place online and have it shipped to me. I didn't realize that .44 mag ammo was so scarce.

Mine is chambered for both. Stamped on the barrel.
    ...
Anything that will shoot 44Mag will also shoot special, just like any 357 will shoot 38.
I have heard, though, that shooting a lot of 38 will cause the steel just in front of the cartridge to roughen making 357 hard to chamber and eject. I suspect 44 will have the same issue.

I don't have this first hand, just what I have heard other shooters say. I don't fire any 357 at all, so it isn't an issue for me.

The Local Gun Store up here has small amounts, so it is available, but you may have to keep trying. (Or take a 700 mile drive )
I don't mind being called far right.
I have been right so far.

I just got an ad from SG Ammo in my email yesterday.

    https://www.sgammo.com/product/44-ma...n-jhp-ammo-44b

Price is about 85 cents a round for a 500 round case.

Of course, in these times, it might sell out before I get this mailed.

Well I just sold Fred Chaffey My AK 47 and M16 both with a boat load of ammo. Hope he enjoys them as much as I did. I still have plenty of home protection anyhow and the weapons were just taking up space in the house.

Good morning, I didn't buy your rifles. Although I spell my last name with one "f", there may be however a Fred Chaffey walking around this town.....odds are though.....

No problem Johnny. For some reason I have you and Fred Chafey confused. My bad.
