    UMHB at Trinity

    Another pathetic performance so far.

    Trinity 14
    Crusaders 0

    End of the 1st quarter

    The Cru is driving though.

Offense looking better, even with a third string QB.

Defense is hapless. They can't stop anything.

    21-10 midway of the 2nd.

    Final

    Trinity 35

    UMHB 16

Start the year 0-2 and with Whitewater coming to town, that's a very good chance that the Cru will start the season 0-3.

It was painful watching the game this evening. I recognized the uniforms, but the players wearing them are a far distant kinfolk from those that played and wore the uniform in past seasons.

Although the O-line played better today compared to last week they were still moving very sluggish and had difficult time protecting Phe and giving him enough time while he was in the pocket to get the ball to a receiver. The D-line is still slow to get to the play and when they do get there their lack of ability to wrap up their tackles instead of trying to bounce their bodies off the ball carrier. The backfield while in coverage too often failed to stay in the same zip code of the receiver.

As a whole there seems to be a general lack of desire to give 100% each and every play. There is no esprit de corps and a lot of players seem to be riding the coat tails of past seasons. The inability to play with a level head and not lash out, collecting way too many penalties. Coach Harmon and the other coaches must do a better job of getting the team ready for the game. The players need to strive to follow through on every play.

Next week we have Whitewater coming down to Belton. I hope that the coaches and players can get their heads on straight and play like a national championship team. This year’s team had some difficulties playing River Falls and Trinity, Whitewater is going to rip The Cru to shreds. If The Cru is not successful in beating Whitewater, then we go into conference play 0-3! By the end of the season The Cru might have a hard time finishing the season with a .500 record.

Well, there are a lot of new faces and they lost a lot of national championship talent. Coach Harmon chose the schedule in order to have strength of schedule and threw the new guys right into the fire. No excuse because they lose guys every year and Fredenburg was able to have them competitive early. But they usually played unranked teams early.

This year, three top 20 teams in the first three weeks and two of them are away games.

Let's hope they show up against Whitewater Saturday.

Is that still going to be a noon start?
