Bearcat is usually a very dependable brand. In aviation, most of our handheld units were Bearcat units. I still have one at the house to listen in on Skylark traffic every now and again.

    Let's go Chastain!

You have to use it at the track, right? There's no way to listen at home?

    Great!

The sound quality was great, I noticed no difference between the Bearcat and the Racing Electronics rentals.

    1. The rechargeable batteries that came with it lasted the entire race and it was a long one. I did shut it off during three lightning delay. But I brought my portable phone charger that I need for my ####ty phone. I didn't need it for the scanner.

The programming that I downloaded was perfect. I listened to Harvick mostly, but would switch between him and the MRN broadcast and other drivers who had troubles. Even NASCAR race control and safety.

Got to hear Truex blame the first spin on "the ####ing track".

Uploading the programming was easy and I just needed to make a few adjustments for new drivers and I printed a spreadsheet to bring along with me.

All I did too switch between cars was enter the car number, then hit the "hold" button. Too easy.

I bought an amplifier that wasn't really needed, but it worked great too.

This is a great alternative to the expensive Racing Electronics model. I figure if I go to three races, it pays for itself.

FW newspaper story quotes Kyle Larson's opinion of the track--start the bulldozers NOW! He wants it replaced by a SMALLER oval.
Maybe it's the 'resin compound' that NASCAR mandated?

Rick, is that headphone jack just a standard jack? Can I use my gaming headset with the bearcat?

Yes, it's a standard jack. This is from the owner's manual.

Are you going to get one?

Yea, I think it's time to pull the trigger. I liked the radio you showed me, and it's got great reviews. I'm just taking a minute to decide between the SR30C and the BC125AT since they're within $10 of each other.

I think I'm going to go ahead and get the race headphones too simply because I like their cord better. Again, I'm trying to decide between the RE headset and the no brand ones. For the $10 difference, I'll probably go RE. They look cooler and probably have better product support.

I don't know which ones you are looking at, but it helps to have a volume control on the headset too.
