Keselowski Penalized
Ouch! They aren't saying which part was modified.
NEWS: NASCAR issues deduction of 100 owner points, 100 driver points and 10 NASCAR Playoff Points to the No. 6 Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing team for modifying a single source supplied part.
Crew chief Matt McCall has been fined $100,000 and suspended for the next four races.

I saw that. The wheels seemed to be a hot topic with needing modification for a while there. I didn't hear much about it last weekend, but that's where my mind went when I heard that.

Years ago Kenseth and his team got penalized for modifying the fuel hose. That is they made the inside of it larger in order to carry more fuel. I thought that was pretty slick....

If we're going to start having one race a year where the points don't matter, then they should allow the teams to do whatever modifications they want at that race. That'd be real interesting to watch.

They probably don't want others to try to find a way to get away with it...

They tried that with lug nuts a couple years ago, but some teams were not happy about the prospect that someone else's shortcut could take their cars out of the race. So they went with a zero tolerance for missing lug nuts.
Of course, now, they only have one nut, you know, like all cars that are stock from the factory...
