Most adults can recognize robots. Why are we thinking they're only coming from Russia or China? Your usual home grown troll farms have people on US soil. Pushing the narrative.

They're even easier to spot by the unconditional devotion to redirecting the real cause. Blaming the same old boogeyman, Russia. China is used for the back up. Because it can only be those two. Not the common rapid Ukraine supporter.

I'm curious to what would happen if the IP's are blocked. But only Russia and China. After that we can discuss why the robots haven't stopped.

My default position is server performance and maintenance.

Unless one is doing business in Russia or China, blocking access to your server is good IT management.

But you are correct as far as bots and others using them in a nefarious way.

I have some pattern IP block techniques as well.

Shutdown all the TOR exit points access as well as all the larger VPN's.

The more garbage you remove, the better the performance, and the less IT maintenance for Rick.

On that subject, I moved over 2K domains I manage to AWS.
