Rain possible at the Roval; how they?ll race
October 10, 2020 at 6:29 AM
The threat of rain looms over this weekend?s races for the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval. Since it?s a road-course venue, teams will have rain tires at the ready should conditions allow for wet-weather racing.
For a wet weather start: All vehicles must mount rain tires, activate their rear flashing light and have a working windshield wiper installed.
For more on rain procedures, see NASCAR.com
AND: Goodyear will bring its wet weather radials for use on the Charlotte roval, should NASCAR decide that conditions warrant. Cup teams are allowed up to four sets for their 109-lap race.
Xfinity teams are allowed up to two sets of "wets" for their 67-lap race; this tire was last run in NASCAR competition by Xfinity Series teams at Road America this past August.
In addition to the obvious difference of a tread pattern vs. Goodyear?s dry weather "slick" tires, the "Goodyear" and "Eagle" lettering on the sidewalls of the wet weather tires is white, not the standard yellow.

Watching this mess I've concluded that the only thing worse than a fake road course race is a wet fake road course race.
