Exclamation 2021 Cup Schedule to be released Wednesday UPDATES

    September 30, 2020 at 7:01 AM

UPDATES: See a tentative copy of the schedule on the 2021 NASCAR Cup Schedule page (subject to change until the official schedule is released).

Chicago has confirmed the loss of its date.

Kentucky Speedway has confirmed the loss of its date.

The Bristol Herald Courier reports the spring race at Bristol will be on dirt.

Darlington has a press conference scheduled for Wednesday, likely to announce a second date.

    AND:

Among the highlights of the schedule, which will be officially released on Wednesday afternoon in its entirety by NASCAR, are six road course events ? beginning with a race at the Circuit of the Americas on May 23, 2021.

Other road course events in the Cup series will be June 6 at Sonoma, Calif., July 4 at Road America, Aug. 8 at Watkins Glen, N.Y., Aug. 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, and Oct. 10 at the Charlotte Roval.

Other new races added include a spring race at Bristol which will be converted to a dirt track. The last Cup race held on dirt was on Sept. 30, 1970, at the half-mile State Fairgrounds Speedway in Raleigh, N.C.

Also new to the schedule: a second Atlanta race, the All-Star Race moved to Texas Motor Speedway and a race at Nashville Superspeedway.

    ? Motorsport ?

ORIGINAL POST: NASCAR is expected to release the full 2021 Cup Series schedule on Wednesday afternoon. XFINITY and Truck Series schedules will be released at a later date.

A number of new tracks are expected on the Cup schedule next season. Nashville Superspeedway has already announced that it will replace one of Dover?s dates.

There has been speculation that the All-Star Race will move to Texas and one of Texas? race dates will move to Circuit of the Americas in Austin.

There have also been rumors that one of Bristol?s races could be run on dirt.

A couple other new tracks are possible as well.

Other possibilities mentioned the last few weeks:

    Kentucky losing its race

    Chicago losing its race

Road America getting a Cup race

    Street course race in Nashville

    Gateway gaining a race

Atlanta gaining a second race (likely from Kentucky)

    Darlington gaining a second race

We should know what?s true before dinner time Wednesday.

COTA is a neat place to go. I watched the Moto GP there a couple of years ago.

TMS getting the All-Star race will "compensate' them for losing a regular season race to COTA.

Checked COTA's website a few minutes ago. No firm prices yet for their NASCAR weekend, but they're asking for a $75 deposit for it, so far.
