Exclamation NASCAR may fine for failure to comply with COVID-19 protocols

    May 6, 2020 at 4:31 PM

NASCAR issued a rules bulletin Wednesday stating that those who fail to comply with the sanctioning body’s COVID-19 event protocol guidelines could be fined as much as $50,000.

NASCAR has set specific guidelines for events, which include everyone in the infield wearing a mask and social distancing mandates.

Failure to follow those guidelines and any other directives issued by NASCAR will result in a fine of $10,000-$50,000 in Cup. The fine for such a violation in the Xfinity Series is between $5,000 – $25,000. The fine for such a violation in the Truck series is between $2,500 – $12,500.

    — NBC Sports —

The Member Conduct Guidelines (for Cup) now read, in part:
.b Member actions that could result in a $10,000-$50,000 fine:

Disparaging the sport and/or NASCAR’s leadership.

Verbal abuse of a NASCAR Official, media members, fans, etc.

Intentionally damaging another vehicle under yellow or red flag conditions or on pit road with no one around.

Failure to complete at-track media obligations as outlined in the applicable Driver and Team Owner agreements.

Failure to comply with NASCAR’s COVID-19 Event Protocol Guidelines and/or instructions from NASCAR including screenings, social distancing, compartmentalization, and use of required personal protective equipment, etc.

If all the team owners refuse to show up for a race in protest this crap would stop real quick. That will never happen.

If NASCAR is the first sporting activity to begin, they are sure to increase viewership for the mere fact that sports liking people want to watch something for crying out loud...Was watching Dodgeball Juggling on the Ocho as well as lawnmower racing, that was pretty entertaining...

Don't most NASCAR pit crew members now wear full-face helmets, or is it just the gas can members?

ANd how does one maintain social distancing during a pit stop, particul;arly if the crew is fixing a wreck-damaged car that isn't ready for the garage?

Heard that true Scotsmen don't wear anything under the kilt...

Reminded of the song 'The Scotsman' from the old Dr. Demento radio show...

SPOILER ALERT: The last line of the song is, "Lad, I don't know whereya been, but I see ya won First Prize!"

I don't think there's an issue for crews when wearing a helmet that covers the face. If the virus can escape a full face helmet, a paper or cloth mask isn't going to do much good.

I think they are more concerned with distancing during down times when everyone is working in the garages.

Hopefully, they will restrict idiot Waltrip from doing his moronic pit road interviews.
