Texas Motor Speedway proceeding with race plans despite state of emergency
March 14, 2020 at 12:20 PM
Texas Motor Speedway isn’t ready to postpone its opening race weekend yet amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Track president Eddie Gossage said on Friday night that the NASCAR races from March 26-29 are still scheduled even after Forth Worth Mayor Betsy Price declared a state of emergency earlier Friday.
Price issued a mandatory cancellation of any events or gatherings with expected attendance of 250 people or more.
“We are aware of it,” Gossage said. “The city told us this order was for seven days. Our race is still scheduled.”

NASCAR might lose a LOT of fans if they "blow off" THREE consecutive race weekends...
Don't know if there's enough "free" weekends left in the year to make the dates up...why, NASCAR might HAVE to race on MOTHER'S DAY!?!
Funny thing about Texas Motor Speedway...the GoodGuys outdoor car show group is at TMS this weekend. Looked at both TMS and Goodguys' websites yesterday afternoon, and both DID NOT show ANY indication that the weekend show was cancelled. Sure, a lot of the cars and owners are already there, but...
Maybe...push the Chase races further down the schedule...like running Daytona in December...
But then NASCAR is competing more with the NFL then...
Next week, there's a GUN SHOW at TMS...

Reason: Took a "WEEKEND" off...

That's nothing...
IndyCar has postponed/cancelled all their races until the end of April, just in time for the 500
Formula 1 has cancelled at least three: Australia, Bahrain and Vietnam and is looking at June for their first race...

Oh, I JUST checked the Goodguys website--it appears that the City of Fort Worth ASKED them to cancel the show this weekend, so they cancelled the last two days (today and Sunday).
IndyCar was supposed to run at COTA down in Austin in a few weeks. Maybe they'll reschedule that race to...August? (insert sound bite of David Lee Roth's "I can barely see the road/ With the heat coming on...')?
Later than that, and IndyCar is going to have to see if the Longhorns are playing at home on the same weekend...maybe try the weekend that the Horns are at the Cotton Bowl to play OU?
Hey now...a DOUBLE HEADER weekend at COTA--run the IndyCars on the Saturday BEFORE the Formula 1 race!!

With baseball postponing until mid-May, I don't see NASCAR running any time soon.

Guess Cousin Eddie's (Christmas Vacation) plans went 'up in smoke' (ala Cheech and Chong)...
