UPDATE: Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series finale from Homestead-Miami averaged a 2.2 rating and 3.74 million viewers on NBC, marking the lowest rating in the 20-year history of the race and the smallest audience since at least 2001.

Of the 32 Cup Series races that were run as scheduled this season, Homestead was the 18th to post a decline in ratings and/or viewership and the 19th to hit an all-time or decade-plus low. (The spring Kansas race did not decline, but still tied a ratings low.)

The final three races of the season declined, with both Phoenix and Homestead down double-digits.

It was nonetheless a encouraging year for NASCAR, which saw increases for 14 Cup Series races — the most in a single year since 2013. Only four races increased all of last season.

ORIGINAL POST 11-18-2019: Overnight ratings for the season ending Ford Ecoboost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway were down slightly from last year.
