Was watching the UIL football championships this week and it was interesting to learn Lampasas made it all the way to the semi finals losing to Carthage, who ultimately beat La Vega. I always enjoy watching that every year. Aledo now has 9 titles, the most in Texas. Pretty impressive.

I remember when Aledo was trying to start their streak back about 12 years ago. Their head coach was a former Roo player. State semis and playing Cove and RGIII. Their coach told his team when he played for Killeen it was unacceptable to lose to Cove. The Dawgs stomped them.
Still, 9 titles. Impressive and ties Richland Springs for the most.

Brownwood has an impressive display marking that school's seven football championshps--a line of seven three-foor-tall granits stars, laid out in a half-circle/arc. Seven championships from '61 to '80. On the wall of the school behind it, there are at least 35 metal stars attached to it, each one noting the highest post-season achievenments (District Champ, Region champ, Region co-champ, a loss in the State Championship game) in the non-Championship years.
