    Imitation?

KILLEEN, TX Killeen ISD is investigating a potential threat that happened at a middle school on Thursday.
The district said a student at Live Oak Middle School reported seeing an imitation weapon being thrown over the fence at the school.

Given schools have found peanut butter and jelly sandwiches eaten in a certain manner to be "imitation weapons" in the past, I wish a picture of the "imitation weapon" had been included with this story to give it some context and credibility.

Well, there have been more than a few sad cases where some kid who thinks they are being Billy Bad Ass has been shot for wielding a BB gun at the wrong person. First thing the little idiots do when they get them is remove the orange warning stuff off of them so that the guys with the real guns don't know better and have to assume the worst. Even sadder is the hell that is raised and jobs lost when officers get canned or suspended for doing what comes natural.

Pretty much doesn't make sense to have a fake gun when real ones are so easy to get. And it also doesn't make sense to gripe when someone blows someone else away when they get stupid with them either.

The news release should've stated "imitation firearm" or "imitation bladed weapon". When I first read "imitation weapon", my first thought was "Cool, someone built an imitation trebuchet..."

Maybe the school has a 3D printer, and the kid used it to create a scale model of a ballistic missile...

Were it an imitation toy thrown over the fence, that might be more newsworthy.
