Several of my old Army friends are Air Traffic Controllers, and are working since they are deemed "critical". Their pay stubs for this pay period says $0.00.
At some point, I think regardless of what Federal law may say about being required to work without pay, even with the knowledge that any work will be compensated (paid), will be challenged in court. What are they going to do if the shutdown goes for another month? 2 months? Is the government going to give them interest for holding their pay?

    Play it out ?

Trump is caught in a crossfire that involves the Globalist wanting him murdered and using his family as leverage.

The only chance Trump has is to keep the Government shut down until he can gain control through chaos management.

That wont occur until Mid February.

Tell you friends to tighten their belt way up and cut out all unnecessary spending in anticipation of NO BACKPAY and the Government doing partial fire ups in mid May.

The NATCA (Air Traffic Control union) has filed suit. Something about 5th Amendment due process and the Fair Labor Act, or something like that.
I think that those that are working are required to be paid once appropriations are available. It's those that are furloughed that probably won't get back pay, since they didn't work.

If you want to use the backyard fence theory, there are a couple of extra things you need to add to the equation to reach the same stupid situation that fits the current border situation. Imagine having a fence, but anyone coming over it cannot be shot for breaking into your yard. Then imagine that the same person breaking in must be allowed to stay in the yard for a year or so until a judge can decide if they have a right to be there. In the meantime, said person is allowed to roam around anywhere they want, have a baby or 2 paid for by you, and then disappear before their trial date. Then you discover that they have moved into your house because the feds lost track of them. This is what congress has delivered as law for our southern border.

The law is only as good as the people who are willing to abide by it, and it does not take long for a person to figure out that they need not abide by the law when they can get what they wanted all along by disobeying it.

The democrats in congress are always willing to talk about legislation... but talk only. When you actually get to a point where someone asks them to vote on anything, their political careers start flashing before their eyes and they get paralyzed. The cases always wind up tied up in a court somewhere for years, and then go before the supreme court for a decision. All because we use the courts as an excuse to keep things moving because we have a congress that is more worried about getting reelected than actually doing the peoples business.

Someone asked a republican congressman why the republicans did nothing with immigration reform when they had the power. The answer.... Because so many were worried about being reelected during the mid terms they did not want to talk about it until after the elections were over. Well, it's too late now guys and gals. This is what we get with politicians.

Are the democrats even worried about illegals over running the country? Evidently not. After all, they do tend to vote with the benefits-for-me gang once they get here. Think of it like this... If most illegals voted republican once they got here, don't you think the conversation would be a bit different?

Trump was talking about using some of the unused money that is sitting in the escrow account that was set aside for national emergencies, and immediately the Puerto Ricans started raising hell because they say that is their money. Right. Guess Houston and California don't get a say in where that money goes now, do they.

Sure he is... Just wait until enough of the democrats on the dole are out of time and money, then things might get done. If not, it shows me that the political animals are willing to sacrifice the well being of their voters in order to make a political point, and ensure their seats in Valhalla.

But in the end, when people can't get on an airplane, their SS and welfare checks are not delivered, and a lot of other handouts are not delivered by the democrat pundits, plenty of folks will be screaming for a compromise. And $5 billion is peanuts for the government. Just imagine how much it costs us each year to provided for the hapless minions (or should I say, millions) with taxpayer dollars.

One other factor that has been mentioned a few times, but not had a number put on it, is the impact on salaries that illegals holding jobs have in the country. Why pay some legal citizens $10 an hour when you van get a Salvadoran transplant to do it for half that?

There are so many reasons to want better border enforcement. Another item that is deflected and often asked about, are the overstays on Visa holders, and the chain citizens that come here because someone that has been legally allowed has put their name in the lottery. Absolutely no screening on these people, from what I can see, and they come in by the thousands every year. There are so many loopholes in the system, it does not take much of a scammer to figure a way into America and claim to be a citizen. And in states where simply being there (like California) is the same as citizenship, and comes with the right to vote, that makes a huge impact on a lot of things that are supposedly the rights of fully accredited American citizens. It makes my citizenship by being a naturally born American, born of Naturally born American parents, almost seem cheap. And worthless.

If walls didn't work, the Netherlands would be under water.

It's like abstention with birth control... Works every time it is tried.

Just a socialism fails every tome it is tried. The problem with the new socialist movement is that they do not study history, and think that they have discovered a whole new thing as soon as they reach voting age.

They needed to stay awake in class during the part where they teach about the Russian revolution, Cuba and North Korea. They were probably distracted by all their devices.

At least in high school I could use the excuse that I was stoned during class.

As I master'd a bong in high school myself, I will attempt to put this
    in cannabis-bonics.

The people that want to eliminate our eminent leader have elected to accelerate
the process - so they may continue getting their righteous bucks.

Our leader decided it would be better to torch the entire building to get rid of the spider.
