    Watkins Glen TV ratings

UPDATE: Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series Watkins Glen 355 had a 2.3 rating and 3.67 million viewers on the NBC broadcast network, up 15% in ratings and 13% in viewership from last year on NBCSN (2.0, 3.25M) and flat and down 4% from 2016, when the race aired on USA Network opposite the Olympic Games (2.3, 3.83M).

[Chase] Elliott's win was just the third Cup Series race all season to post an increase, joining Michigan in June and Chicagoland last month, though all three increases can be attributed to a scheduling change. Watkins Glen and Michigan both moved up from cable to broadcast, while Chicagoland moved from September (opposite the NFL) to July.

On a competitive sports weekend that included Yankees-Red Sox and Tiger Woods, NASCAR was the most-watched sporting event on any network. It edged the second-place final round of the Bridgestone Invitational head-to-head (2.3, 3.45M).

Someone once posted that those down in the Piedmont didn't much care for road courses. Must have been all those north of the Mason-Dixon that were watching it......Tiger wasn't in contention to win but he was lurking and that always draws a crowd.

They were watching Chase Elliott, son of Awesome Bill.

Listened to the 'SpeedFreakz' radio show last week after that win. They interviewed Chase, and as soon as the interview was over and he was off their phone line, the Freakz criticized the interview, saying that Chase was one of the worst interview guests they had ever had. "Crash Gladys" (former IndyCar team PR flack, and wife of fellow Freak/co-host Kenny Sargent) asked Chase "so, what did you learn in your first victory that you can take and use for your next win?", and Chase replied that he wasn't sure what he learned on that track...

Maybe the Freakz wanted Chase to be bouncing off the walls. Chase sounded more like a 'Randy Travis' and not a 'Toby Keith'.
At least Chase didn't talk 'commercial' during the interview ("yeah, the #9 NAPA Auto Parts/Pepsi/Axalta Chevy Camaro ZL1 did its job on the track. I also wanna thank Goodyear...")
