    Watch That Dress Code!

RENO — A northern Nevada school district has settled a First Amendment lawsuit with an eighth-grade student who said his rights were violated when he was told his pro-gun T-shirt violates the district’s dress code.
The Washoe County School District and the boy’s attorneys announced Friday the district has updated its dress code to no longer ban clothing that promotes weapons and has allowed the student to wear a Firearms Policy Coalition T-shirt.
The statement says the school district will also pay a portion of the boy’s legal fees.

"Pay a portion of the boy's legal fees"??!! The school district should have paid for all the legal fees.

When I went to HS, we had a very strict dress code. This was in the 60s and long hair was a new trend.

Our principal was a retired USMC Colonel, and he wasn't having any of that stuff, so we had a haircut policy worse than the Army did at the time. Had to join the Army to grow my hair out and have a mustache.

Recall about the same as ST. Girls' skirts couldn't be short - about 1" above the knee. Of course they didn't wear slacks to school back then. Boys could not wear any kind of Levis - even the new white Levis that came out.
A few of the boys who decided to grow their hair long were required to wear hair nets in phys ed class. The head phys ed teacher was a retired Marine drill sergeant.

Boys hair couldn't touch their shirt collar. The collar was another dress code requirement.

Yep... No tee shirts were allowed. Probably a good thing since so many lawsuits have come of what the kids are putting on the Tee shirts. Its OK to have 4 letter words and all sorts of other nasty stuff on them, but let someone show up in a MAGA tee, or one supporting the 2nd amendment and watch the fun. Or GASP even worse... Something with Jesus on it.

A federal judge has ordered a Wisconsin high school to allow a student to wear his gun-themed T-shirts to class.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman ruled Friday that Matthew Schoenecker is likely to prevail on the merits of his First Amendment case against the principal at Markesan High School. Adelman granted a preliminary injunction while denying the principal's motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

Schools all need to go to uniforms. Next suit will be a kid who wears a "F*** TRUMP" T shirt, and he will claim a violation of his first amendment rights if they send him home.

I think they have already banned the MAGA hats and tees in a lot of districts across the country.

Have to admit, it takes some stones to show up with one of those on.
