    USA Womens National Team

Playing Japan, on FS1, early 2nd half and we're up 2-1. Good match so far.

Now 3-1. Alex Morgan with the hat trick. Besides being great at soccer she's real cute too. Sure better than watching Landon Donovan or Clint Dempsey.

4-2, USA Final score. Meghan Rapinoe also scored for us. Then it got kind of sloppy as we started subbing all over the field and Japan snuck another one by the keeper.
Australia kicked Brazil's butt earlier in this tournament which is a prelude to World Cup qualifying which starts in October. We play the Aussies next.

We get Australia tonight, Sunday, 6PM, FS1. Australia is very good and one of the top 4 or 5 in the world. Will be a tough match.

Helluva game - ended in a 1-1 tie. Australia scored early and we didn't tie it up until right at the end of regulation. Then 5 minutes stoppage time and over.
Australia was the last team to beat us and they are good. We have one more match against Brazil in this tournament and Australia plays Japan. Probably on Weds or Thursday.

We've got plenty of players. The one who they probably miss the most isn't even playing due to injury - Mallory Pugh.

Australia beat Japan in the early game, 2-0, but we need to beat Brazil by at least two goals to win the tournament, so..................
Brazil scores first as one of our dunderhead defenders kicks the ball right by our goalie. 1-0, Brazil. But.............
it was all USA after that. Final: 4-1, USA, and they looked great doing it.
Only bad thing, other than that own goal, is Alex Morgan got hurt with two minutes left and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.
Beyond me why you would have your leading scorer still in the game when it was already decided and only 2 minutes left.

totally agree with your last point.....just made no sense at all....when Davidson did that, I had one of my daughters here who 'bout had a coronary......but of course, Davidson is the only amateur on the team too......still needs a lot of play time if she intends to do this after college......should be an interesting tournament next year......mac

The defense still looks shaky at teams, but they seem to have improved each game I have watched in the past few months. Moving Crystal Dunn to defense is something I
never agreed with because she has so much speed, but we have plenty of real good forwards and outside mids, so they try her at defense back. She's done fine.
