Yea, Medicare kicks in.
Medical insurance more than tripled.
Lost TriCare Prime and now on TriCare for Life.

You are going to like those things in a while... Only getting the new ID card is a pain....
You actually have to go on post to get one. I waited until retirees day and it goes a lot faster and easier.
Oh... And this year try blowing out the candles with your mouth... Less explosions going on and all that. Happy birthday old bird.

i've grown to really like and appreciate Medicare w/Tri Care for Life, Owl......especially at Seton here on the HH/Killeen line. I'm pretty sure you will too. Hell, I hardly ever go to VA now, maybe twice a year, once to Primary Care (and that's only to keep my medication eligibility, and once to GU for my prostate and my next visit for that will be my last since Dr. Pandya will be leaving.......mac

I use Scott and White still, and never get a bill. Well... I did a few times when the lady who does billing decided that she didn't want to deal with the paperwork for Tricare fore life, but it didn't take long to disabuse her of her reluctance to file, as I told her I would not remit so much as a penny until she did.
For my cataract surgery, I used Seton. That is the beauty of Medicare... You can use anyone. About the only thing you will get in the mail is the usual account summary with a statement of benefits paid.

Sojourner: They're doing my 2nd eye this coming Monday.
Question: how long ago did you do yours and, b: Do you have to use any sort of eye drops now?......mac

Mine were done a couple of months ago by Dr. Esters at Seaton. The drops (mostly the after surgery Pred Forte drops) will be used until they run out and then that should be it. I am done with everything now and down to just an annual checkup to see if any further adjustments need to be made. One of the things that can happen is if an air bubble gets under the lens and they can fix that in the office with a simple laser procedure.
What got me was the meds they put me under were so light that I walked out of the hospital 15 minutes after the surgery. The hardest part was sleeping with that damned patch on my eye and not rolling onto my side for 3 nights. ANd it is weird having just one eye done and waiting for the second one because I knocked one lens out of my glasses in order to make that work. One of the options they offer if you have good reading vision in one eye is to just do one eye and leave the other alone so you don't have to use reading glasses. Not an option if you have cataracts in both eyes like I did.
My suggestion is to get about 6 pairs of cheap reading glasses off the rack at wal mart and lay them all around the house to make life easier once you get both eyes done. And then get into the habit of carrying a pair of them everywhere you go.
I am now playing guitar with our church praise team, and cannot read the sheet music if I forget my specs. Very embarrassing.
All in all, it was for the best. The thought of having a nice car that I can't drive sitting in the garage just bugs the hell out of me.
