Scrimmage/Week 1 Games

New season, new beginnings! (and new uniforms) I know Killeen scrimmages Temple, Ellison & Waco, Harker Heights & Stony Point, and Shoemaker scrimmages Round Rock all on Friday (don't know where).
Ellison returns 5 starters on offense & 5 on defense, Heights 6 on offense, 3 on defense, Killeen 5 on offense & 7 on defense, Cove 4 on offense & 5 on defense, Shoemaker 4 on offense & 7 on defense.

Week 1 games:

Thursday game(8/31):

Ellison @ Leander, 7 PM

Friday games(9/1):

Belton @ 5A #4 Temple

Copperas Cove @ 5A #19 A&M Consolidated

RR Stony Point @ Killeen

Harker Heights @ Elgin

Midway @ 5A #5 Cedar Park

Saturday game(9/2):

Autonoma de Nuevo León @ Shoemaker, 6 PM

Glad to see football season arrive. Maybe people will take some time to watch the games on TV or in person and forget about Charlottesville, etc.
Once again, I see, that Mexican national champ team come up here to get its butt handed to them. After Shoemaker they get Cove.

Sounded like Killeen did pretty well against Temple all things considering. I actually expect them to have a good year with all they got coming back, maybe compete for that 2 spot behind Midway. Depends on Belton & how their new players play. Heard Ellison did really well too, maybe this is their year finally. Their QB is the son of Billy Spiller who won the '91 state title with Killeen.

New scoreboard, new uniforms, new helmets. Lot of tax dollars meant for education but spent on a game. What a sad state of affairs, but it is Texas.

Could be worse - have you seen a pic of Katy's new stadium? We all thought Allen's stadium was expensive, but McKinney topped that and Katy topped McKinney. Really ridiculous.

This week I'll take (& week 1 is always hard to predict):

Ellison by a double digit margin
Temple should handle Belton though the Tigers will have their moments
Cove's always had big problems with Consol & I think they fall here
Killeen in a close game
Heights wins with their rushing attack
Cedar Park over Midway but Midway has a good chance to win like usual.
Really don't know what to expect from Shoemaker's game. It will tell a lot about how much the new coach has made an impact. It seems like he has, but Nuevo León did beat them last year & have seemed to improve every year

IMO A&M will walk all over Cove. Nothing was ever published about how Cove did in their scrimmage against Abilene, but talking to people in Cove most think they
looked pretty crappy.
