Good article in this morning's KDH about the Mexican team. Cove coach Jack Welch was in attendance
when they played Shoemaker and he was impressed.

Both Heights and Ellison are rolling right now.

Ellison up 42-20 at the start of the 2nd half

And the Knights are up 21-0 3rd quarter.

Eagles won, and are 2 and 0 for the time being... The final was 45 to 34.

They looked really good in the 1st half, but lost a lot of steam by the 2nd. Also, some really stupid penalties and some bad snaps didn't help. They look good, but have some work to do.

Ellison has some really good receivers, and Robinson can throw the ball, but offensive line is suspect...and defense is lacking. Ellison is not very big at all, but the kids are hustling, trying...I do hope they are successful and can get in the playoffs this year.

They really only played hard for the first half and then pfffft. Not sure if they were just tired or trying to coast to the finish line. They did have some good receiving and passing, but the defense during the first quarter was terrible. After a bit of an ass chewing on the sidelines, the defense buckled up and did the job fairly well the rest of the game... at least until the late 3rd quarter where it looked like they just ran out of gas.

They had over 400 yards total offense, split down the run/pass line. When they play Waco, we will see if the lessons are being learned. Coach admitted that they still have a lot of work to do, but with the points they have been able to put on the board so far this year, it is definitely looking better that a few years ago when they couldn't buy a win for love nor money.

I haven't seen a really good high school defensive team in years. These spread offenses make all defenses look bad.
Welcome to the decade of 52-48 type of scores.

As long as they keep their foot on the gas, they should make it in TBH. Don't see too many teams stopping that offensive attack right now.
