I'm pleased to be normal, too. I knew what it meant without being a mind reader.

I said without being a mind reader. No ouija board in my house. I'm not superstitious, and I'm not even religious the way most of you are.
The occasional kinky stuff, though....that's different....

It's ok. I know my puppy is in a better place now, whether he has a soul or not in your view. He had more compassion in his paw then you do in your whole body.
I believe with all my heart that my dogs who passed through my life are waiting for me. God is a loving God, and I do not believe for an instant that He would allow us to bond with these precious animals only to be parted from them forever. How we will be together again I have no idea, but my Courtney, Paws, Brandi, and Elmo have all wrapped their tails around my heart; that bond cannot be completely severed.
The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

I don't temper that potential loss with a false hope for her eternal life however. Our pets live as long as we live because they live in our hearts.
Despite several news reports to the contrary, Pope Francis never said that dogs go to heaven. The news stories were apparently based on a misreading of remarks Pope Francis made at his weekly general audience at the Vatican on Nov. 26 and on a comment that Pope Paul VI made several decades ago. As is usual, the retractions did not get as much attention as had his initial falsely attributed remarks.
I debated with myself long and hard about continuing this aspect of the thread. You clearly love your "little girl" and understand the pain of losing these special creatures God has given us, and you are absolutely right; the comment about animals having souls was not made by Pope Francis, even though he certainly made a statement about the importance of animals in God's creation with his choice of name. I can't find a source that credits Pope John Paul VI with that remark, but the remark was made by Pope John Paul II in 1990, Pope John Paul II who has now been canonized by the church.
All that aside, can't we let Siam grieve for the loss of her beloved "puppy" and drop the theological debate? I will not reply to any remarks; this needs to end.

Forgot where this is in California, but I thought there was a Catholic priest there who did an annual "pet blessing" at his church, for his parishoners.
Then there's the "Blessing of the Cars" I read about once or twice...

I'm sure that after I post this, we'll find out that this is wrong.
The priests have done it at Holy Family in Copperas Cove for years. When Father Chris blessed our house, he blessed the dogs and he even went out to the field to chase the horses down.
Blessing of Animals
by Kevin E. Mackin, O.F.M.
As autumn arrives, people in various places may notice something odd.
A procession of animals, everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and even horses, is led to churches for a special ceremony called the Blessing of Pets.

Is this some sort of prayer? Usually when people start a sentence with "God" they are saying a prayer. Or are you referring to me as "God". If so, I am flattered. Now, where did I put those darn lightning bolts?

The Episcopal Churches bless the animals also. Not sure about cars.
