    Denali

Mt McKinley is so big that it affects the weather. It is shrouded in clouds more than it isn't.

We got lucky and got some great pictures from the south side of the mountain on our trip to Anchorage.

While the middle picture utilizes the zoom on the camera, this position is about 100 miles south of Denali (The native name for Mt McKinley). The mountain to the left is Mt Hunter, but it's local name is Denali Bo'at (wife of Denali). Hunter is the 6th largest peak in the U.S. according to official signage. (Wikipedia information doesn't agree, but its hard to know who to trust the least - the government signs or Wikipedia...)

    Beautiful.

It is so much more beautiful in person. Also saw my first wild grizzly. She had two cubs with her. She was one anxious mom when the bus we were in got between her and her babies. The first time we went we couldn't see it because of the clouds. The last time, during the winter, is was clear and awe inspiring.

It is totally awe inspiring. We were in Anchorage in June and actually camped in Denali. I will never forget it. Alaska, overall, is very beautiful.

We took a bus tour into the park in early July. We've covered from Anchorage to the Arcitc Circle in or meandering a this summer.

On the day of the bus tour it was cloudy and we couldn't see it. We had family come in at an awkward part of the summer which restricted some of our wandering and camping. I didn't get to do near the amount of camping I wanted to do this summer.
