A small consolation prize I imagine for their women's team loss. But congrats to them.

Is the NIT some sort of honor or something. I never heard of it until my wife explained that it is for teams that can't win the big prize. Sort of a game between also-rans.

Long - and I mean long - before there was an NCAA championship in basketball there was the NIT. It's been around longer than Ludwig.
