The northern lights should be in over drive the next two nights, if I read the forecast right.

I always wanted to experience the northern lights. I have been to Alaska, however not at the right time of the year for that. It was a wonderful trip and great fishing.

Obama forbids anyone from looking at the northern lights during the government shutdown. If it lasts into next week he's gonna turn off the Sun.

Boy, what I wouldn't give to be able to set up my 12" telescope up there on a dark night...I bet you can actually see the Milky Way fairly clearly on a dark night.
The closest we can get in Texas is by watching "Below Zero" on TV...

Several years ago, we went to Angel Fire, NM, about an hour away from Taos. The valley elevation was about 8400 ft. The house we rented was at 9200 ft. Just going up the steps would make you stop to catch your breath. That being said, the milky way was ASTONISHING. No light pollution to speak of, plus the thinner atmosphere really made them stand out.

Somebody jinxed it. Northiern light show curtailed or canceled outright.
Whatever you got last night is probably all there will be.
