I can't link from the KDH mobile app, but here's the news for plant lovers this weekend:

Bend of the River Botanic Garden will open its gates to the public for the first time on Saturday.

The land, given to the city of Temple by the Rueben Talasek family in 2011, will be a venue for weddings, reunions, photography, company picnics, classes and many other events.

As a preview, the garden’s newly formed nonprofit group will hold a family festival from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. There will be live music, a petting zoo, pony rides, games for children of all ages and a fall-decorated gazebo for family photos. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Admission is $5 per car. Bring blankets or lawn chairs. The garden is at 7915 S. General Bruce Drive in Temple.
I thought the tv news last night indicated there would be a plant sale too, but the above article doesn't say. Bend of the River Ranch is on the IH 35 Access Rd just nort of the Leon River, as you leave Belton and enter Temple. The Talesek family generously donated it, a wonderful gesture and addition to the quality of life for those who love the outdoors.
