I saw in the news that the shortage is causing problems now for many police forces.
PX says to check every day after 3:00 pm

Well, it did, a couple months ago. Now it will be causing them some minor budget problems.

The news said that McClennan county is now spending $ on 20 m4 assault rifles because the bad guys are better armed than the good guys. The good guys being the police, of course.
I'm surprised that they haven't already got a supply of AR type rifles. Why so slow on the uptake here?
My only thing is, good luck getting the rifles, and the ammo to train up the force for the new rifles. Another drain on the supply system. And I'm sure the taxpayers are going to love the bill for all this.

Now, now. When the guvment buys them, they are "personal defense weapons", not assault rifles.

They are defense rifles in the hands of citizens too. They are only assault weapons in the hands of libtards, and I have recently come to the conclusion we need to disarm all the libtards. Quickly.

Not a bad idea, since they are the only ones relying on their cell phones for protection.
I would only use mine to get a cop there sometime during his daily routine to fill out the reports and notify the coroner.
Maybe call Molly Maid to clean up the mess.

Ammo Availability Table
For notes on how to read this table, see bottom of post
(using strings of dots because the posting software deletes extra spaces)
This is not what someone should be willing to pay for ammo,
but rather, an attempt to track, what is the going price of ammo.
I updated several of the prices from my first posting, (2nd of Apr) because
many of them were simply wild guesses. The most significant is 22LR, which
before the crunch was about 3 cents a round, and in March the best price
was over 25 cents a round. I set a price to beat at 15 cents a round in hopes
this will soon recover, although as of yet, it has not
Most significant things I noticed this month are the
total lack of 25acp and 30-30 ammo

(p) practice ammo (full metal jacket, round nosed) FMJ TMJ MC These are bullets that are easy to manufacture easy to shoot but are the least effective in a fight.
(d) defense generally JHP (jacketed hollow point) with an engineered nose to expand and shredd tissue on impact, generally the most effective in a fight (with an exception I'll mention later)
(g) general purpose and other includes frangible, wadcutter, flat nose, and jacketed soft point etc These are not as effective as JHP's with engineered noses, but are much more effective than FMJ round nosed bullets.
For small caliber handguns, I don't list separate categories, as they are too small to be proper defensive weapons, and a simi wadcutter or round nose tends, at that weight, to be just as effective as a JHP.
For 44 and 45, and for various rifle ammo, I don't list types because I believe pretty much any round fired from a rifle has sufficient energy and wounding effect to consider it a defense round.
Benchmark Price - the price above which I will consider the ammo overpriced
. ammo above this price will get an "O" after the source code
. This benchmark price should come down over the next few months
. Each month I intend to adjust them as the market changes
. The ones marked "decrease" will be adjusted downwards by 25%

I have been right so far.

Unless it is reloads or Eastern block steel cased (both of which have been known to have reliability problems in 9mm simiautos) ammo that would constitute an immediate buy.
