    tapeworms

This morning when I took Cane outside, I noticed what I believe was a tapeworm segment in her feces. I found WormXPlus on foster smith. Would that work for Cane? The package info calls for 3 pills for her weight, but how may doses would she need? The package has enough for 4 doses. Thanks a lot!

Anthelmintics (dewormers) that will kill tapeworms are only available by prescription or from a veterinarian. The over-the-counter dewormers will control hookworms and roundworms (and sometimes whipworms) but will not cover the tapeworms. Remember, tapeworms are acquired when a dog (or cat) eats a flea. Make sure that you don't have fleas popping up in the environment. I have seen a few at my house already!

I can prescribe an appropriate medication for tapeworms if you like.
