I am asking that ALL OF YOU PLEASE consider a Bone Marrow Donor. Go to the National Bone Marrow Donor site & sign up. Please. Maybe one of you will match Derek, a friend of mine's son. It's a simple cheek swab & they will send you the kit in the mail. I just registered online, and it took less than five minutes! My friend's son has a less than 30% survival rate right now if a donor is not found.

The site is

Thanks! Hope you don't mind I just blasted this site with this message. She is so scared. And I figured, the more people who understand how painless and easy the process is to register to become a donor, the more people might sign up!

Mind? Ha, I just sent you a message about how to do it easier. ;)

Here are some stories about a local young man my daughter became friends with while they were searching for his donor.

The last one says it all.

Is there a place to physically walk in and have this done?

I answered my own question. I will go on Monday. Your friend, her son, and their whole family will be in my prayers.

My thoughts go out to your friends son, everybody that is able should be tested and registered to donate.

I did this while still in the Army. Had a major that climbed all over tanks in the desert that had been destroyed by our M1 main gun rounds that have depleted uranium. He contacted so much uranium that he came down with leukemia (sp). They never found a match. So I am in the National Bone Marrow bank.

Your friend and her family will be my thoughts and prayers.

I will gladly donate but the registry will not take be because I am over 60 years old. Let me know if there is any other way I can donate. I may be old but I'm in excellent health.

60 isn't old. I am almost there and 60 ain't old.

Anyone younger than 50 are still wet behind the ears. They haven't lived life yet.:):)

Evidently it's too old to be a bone marrow transplant donor.

I signed up a few months back. It is super easy to send in a sample. Do it!
