wow...finally got a chance to see this guy Zion play.....he's the real thing.....if he doesn't get hurt or go to jail or something, he may be better than Jordan and James both. He's really impressive.....mac

Yes he is. Was afraid he blew out his knee when his sneaker came apart earlier in the season. I also enjoy the little guy throwing 3 pointers from little tiny University that shows up every tournament....

Zion was gifted by the refs last night. Duke should have lost to UCF.

Refs blew it on both sides. Hw many times can you look at a review and not see the ball hit the rim? Coach K even said it, in the tournament he has been unlucky and lucky and tonight he said he was luckier by a little bit...

doesn't matter how many times you watch the review, that ball still ain't gonna hit the rim.....but Dave is right in his posting down there....UCF should've won that game, it was their's to lose and damned if they didn't find a way to do it......how they missed those 2, under the basket, shots is beyond me....Zion also got away with a critical and game changing goaltending infraction....mac

And once again the Three Blind Mice (referees) give a win to an ACC team (Virginia). Purdue had that game. Even Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder could have seen foul on Virginia that was never called. Call it, Purdue was in the bonus, and the game never would have come down to that last second bucket in regulation.
Here's hoping Michigan State beats Duke, who has looked rather shaky in their last two games.
At least Texas Tech took down Gonzaga - good job Red Raiders.

Texas Tech beating Gonzaga wasn't without its share of SPED Ref's. That flagrant technical foul at the end gave Tech the choice of foul shooters so big boy didn't have to go up there and throw bricks. Otherwise he would have had to shoot those shots.

In the Women's bracket, #1 overall seed in destroying #2 bracket seed Iowa by about 20, late 3rd quarter. Yes - the ladies play 4 quarters, not like the stupid men who play two 20 minute periods.
Notre Dame/Stanford next for a trip to the Final Four. Baylor will play Oregon. Winner of ND/Stanford gets Connecticut.

And just like that, ND comes out from halftime and goes on a tear and now leads by 10 midway through the 3rd.
Really tired of these announcers - very evident they are ND fans.
The same as watching Duke yesterday. Jim Nantz must have been paid a hefty fee by the Blue Devils' boosters. He finally shut up with about 5 seconds to go when Sparty got the lead at the end.

National champion Baylor Lady Bears... I was playing for a worship night event at church tonight and when I went out into the lobby after the gig, everyone was tuning in their phones to find out the final score. 82 to 81 in a last second buzzer beater.

All I have to say is that one of the Baylor players must be in good with the Lord. AT least UCONN wasn't in it.

Ok, I will cede that. She wore Fuscia the other night and Mauve the night before. She was pretty darn good in 1982. She is now third on the list behind the late Pat Summit with 8 and UConn's Auriemma with 11...

Thanks very much.

Same doc that did my back 11 years ago, and I did what he said (he said I was one of the few). I have to have a back fusion later on. But with a good surgeon, I guess it will be fine. My brother in law is a pussy who won't do his PT and wonders why he is not having good results on the same surgery I had. I warned him, but he is one who tends not to listen, and then complains. My sister hasn't shot him yet.

Good luck! In 2004, I had C5-C7 fused with very good results.

The problem now, as a result, the vertebrae above the fusion has done the work of the fused area and it is pushing into my spinal cord. If I get that fused, I'll likely not have much movement, so I am living with it. No, I'm not 100% disabled according to VA...lol

One tip I can think of. During recovery, you have to wear a neck brace. I was lucky and was able to get two of them so I could wash one daily. It really irritates the skin, so washing it, letting it dry and putting baby powder on the pads reduced the skin irritation.

sojourner truth
April 8th, 2019, 8:23 PM
About the only vertebrae I have heard cannot be dealt with successfully are the S1 L5 region... I had a bad C7 that was killing me and the injections fixed that one neatly. Later on, I had the S1 L5 go bad and I could barely walk. They did a series of steroid injections that did nothing, and finally did what is known as an RFA (Burnt a nerve out) and that relieved about 80% of the pain. After that they had me use a Tens unit and take meds to help with the other 20%... The Doc told me that there was no surgical way to fix my problem... Basically it was "suck it up and deal with it" issue at that point. Then they put the pain med I was using on the "very hard to get list" and made things even harder. My current doc is, thankfully, a former sports medicine practitioner and still prescribes the meds for me because he knows I do not abuse them and that the pain is real.

The steroid treatments do work most of the time, but they play hell with a diabetics sugar levels, and they will not do unlimited injections if there is no improvement. The reason I was given was that it is hard on diabetics and that repeated steroid injections lead to other issues later on.

Just asked my wife exactly what she had fused.

C5-7. This doesn't bother her at all.

L2-S1. This covers most of her lower back and now she cannot stand straight and uses a walker most of the time. Her docotor stated that the area above her fusion will eventually have to be fused or she will not be able to walk. Not a good situation for sure.

I had the disk at L5/S1and the lamina on the vertebra removed 11 years ago. No problems, except for the inevitable arthritis. I have 2 places on my neck and 3 on my back that need work. One day at a time. Funny think is, I have been to every specialist (bone) known to mankind, and my back started deteriorating in my 40s, with no explanation. I was a medical anomaly that got poked and prodded. I had the spine of an 85 year old at 45. The human body is amazing, but so complex. So much we still don't know about how things go wrong.

Desert Shield / Desert Storm vet?

No, I was out in 1986. I have been tested for every known cause, and found wanting. Officially a "medical anomaly". One orthopod actually apologized for putting me through so many tests, but, he said, "medicine loves to study its anomalies".

Well, medicine loves to make money... I discovered that when I was working for the city and covered under S and W HMO services that I never got a referral, especially if it was from another provider. When I switched to Medicare, all of a sudden I got tons of referrals all to a S and W facility....

Then I figured it out. If a S and W doctor refers one of his patients to another HMO service, S and W loses money. Even when they refer to a S and W clinic they lose money. One doctor actually told me that they keep points on doctors who refer patients that cost the HMO money... Medicare and Tricare are like dangling a huge bag of money in front of an HMO who has a vacuum cleaner.

I thought it was sort of funny that after going to an Otho doc and not getting any results, and then reading the cost to my HMO I was told finally that they could do nothing for me. Well, they sure made a bundle getting around to that conclusion.

Unnecessary and duplicate testing are part of the reason for soaring health care costs. I look at my GP as simply a clearing house agent that gets me coordination to see a doctor who actually knows what to do. Which usually results in that doctor referring me to another guy ad infinitum.:(

Wow. Allan Samuels Chevy in Waco just gave Kim Mulkey a new 2019 Corvette Z06 for winning.

sojourner truth
April 9th, 2019, 8:01 PM
Holy cow... that car costs over $180,000 off the rack. And Chevy does not do discounts or specials on Corvettes. Usually each year the cost of a vette is $20K to $30K over the previous year model, and once you drive it off the lot it loses half its value.

But then, Kim could probably afford a garage full of these cars on her base salary a year alone. And, she needs 800 HP to get to the game quickly, right.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06/MSRP starts at $80,900 that's for a base model

Yeah, I looked at the 2020 models a few weeks back and the tag on the Z06 on the lot at All American was around $100K. But then that is in Killeen. You can get them a lot cheaper from a dealer in Chicago or other sites that sell them for a bare minimum profit for a lot less. The ZR1 I looked at (a 2019) was going for $125,000 and that was at the end of the year.

The second salesman I got was at least honest enough to let me know that GM doesn't allow deals on Corvettes. No service member friendly deals, no discounts or dollars off for any reason. But then that is a local dealer here in Killeen. I am almost sure that anywhere else they go for a lot cheaper than the local "servicemans friend" dealers. I used to go up to Burkburnett to get my cars because they were always cheaper there than anywhere else in Texas or Oklahoma. Not sure if that is the case, but I will never buy a new car in Killeen again...

When I bought my 2013 Corvette Grand Sport the salesman that sold it to me was as crooked as a dogs hind leg and tried to tell me it was a new C7 2014 model. I then showed him the vin and told him he was full of BS. Got a different salesman and actually got a fairly decent deal on it.

Still, I am a bit saddened by the fact that the players are forbidden getting "gifts" like this as they were the ones out there sweating and hustling to get Kim her job security.

I was going to get a Dodge Hellcat, and have a friend who owns the dealership get it for me, but he sold the car before it even got to the lot for a $20K profit to some dummy who was wanting one in the worst way. Can't blame a guy for taking some fools money like that though....:))

WACO, TX — Lady Bears Basketball Coach Kim Mulkey will be presented with a Corvette by Allen Samuels for her National Championship victory.

She will have the Corvette to enjoy for an entire year.

Mulkey has received a Corvette for a year with every victory - and this year's Corvette will come with extra "sizzle". Allen Samuels said they selected a special edition Corvette, the 2019 Corvette Z06.

“We are thrilled for the Lady Bears and Baylor Nation upon winning another championship. The Bears are all about performance, and we think Coach will be more than impressed with the looks and performance of this Z06,” said Robert Reck, General Manager of Allen Samuels Chevrolet Buick GMC in Hearne, the presenting dealership.

Coach Mulkey’s Corvette presentation date has yet to be determined, but past tradition has seen her in the Corvette as part of a special championship parade in downtown Waco. Time and date for a parade has not yet been announced.

The Lady Bears defeated Notre Dame 82 to 81 for the National Championship on Sunday. Mulkey was also named AP's 2019 women's college basketball coach of the year .
