The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that Hawaiian officials had violated George Young's rights when he was denied a permit to openly carry a loaded gun in public to protect himself.
The decision reversed a lower court ruling that sided with officials who said the amendment only applied to guns kept in homes.

"We do not take lightly the problem of gun violence, which the State of Hawaii 'has understandably sought to fight,'" Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain wrote. "But, for better or for worse, the Second Amendment does protect a right to carry a firearm in public for self-defense."
Gun rights is one of the most hotly debated issues in U.S. political and legal circles with any loosening or restriction of access to guns often leading to a court battle.
The U.S. Supreme Court struck down gun ownership bans in the District of Columbia and Chicago in 2008 and 2010, but has been reluctant in recent years to take on such cases, turning away challenges to gun restrictions.
Judge Richard Clifton noted in his dissent that several appeals courts have come down on different sides of whether guns can be openly carried in public, saying: "There is no single voice on this question." He suggested the Supreme Court will inevitably have to weigh in.

I suspect California and Hawaii are going to ask the full 9th Circuit to review these decisions and the illiterate majority on the 9th Circuit will reverse these decisions. Don't despair though because the usual ignorant decision from the 9th circuit will set up the issue to be definitively decided by a Supreme Court which by then should include Justice Kavenaugh and with any luck Ginsburg will be enjoying retirement in New Zealand.

...

And they even got the wording right:

the Second Amendment does protect a right to carry a firearm
It does not bestow that right.

It is almost as if the 9th Circus learned how to read,
and maybe how to think rationally!

"Because Judge Reinhardt was no longer a judge at the time when the en banc decision in this case was filed, the Ninth Circuit erred in counting him as a member of the majority," the justices said. "That practice effectively allowed a deceased judge to exercise the judicial power of the United States after his death."

Reinhardt was a well-known liberal judge who served on the equally liberal appeals court for more than 37 years. He was the last appeals court judge in active service who was appointed by President Jimmy Carter.

I see now that some Houston judge has said that women must be included in the draft. OK... Let's see how that one goes down.

Women subject to the draft? Israel has done it forever. Why not the good old USA? Equal rights means equal responsibility. Personally, I have never liked the idea of women in combat, but they wanted it, they got it, and now everyone gets to fight. Does this mean women have to pick up the check on a date? Does the guy have to "put out" if she does? :)

With no draft this judge's ruling is moot. But wish they would bring back the draft - draft these snowflakes.:)

aye, 'tis true that the draft is, for the moment, that there's no draft but the Selective Service System and requirement to register for it still exists.......least ways for males......mac

This is what the judge was accomplishing with his case. To get women registered for the draft. Now that is affirmative action at its best folks.

Can't wait to see how the ladies take the news when their names and SSNs go into the hat.:))

9th Circuit to fire up a fatty and vote on "Stairway To Heaven"

Led Zeppelin’s lawyers moved to the next level of appeal, asking for the larger group of judges to rehear the case, and the request was granted. The 11-judge panel will hear the case in late September in San Francisco.

When I saw this was from you, and about the 9th,
I was really hoping it was an autotune... :))
