Canadians can buy this weapon off the shelf in gun stores but in the land of the free and the home of the brave Americans are supposed to ask "mother may I" from the government and pay a $200 fee to purchase the "right" to own one.

I thought no guns were allowed in Canada, just like in Britain and Australia.

Not so Dave... The government and the police are allowed to have them. Of course.

This is what it is all about in America. Not so much as the right to have a weapon, but who gets to have them.

And as far as Canadians are concerned, They still have a right to be stupid. Which it seems they enjoy exercising frequently.

I thought no guns were allowed in Canada, just like in Britain and Australia. They have a plethora of laws some of them almost as silly as ours. One example is their law on magazine capacities. Larger capacities are allowed in pistols that long guns. But what if you have a long gun that accepts pistol magazines? Well in that case pistol rules apply. Shoulder stocks on pistols and imports from China don't seem to bother them though. Selective fire switches for Glocks are available from Europe.

Here's another bit of liberty enjoyed in Canada and Iraq that is verboten in the land of the "free".

This gun doesn't seem to bother Canadians who also have semiauto versions. I suppose it would be too much to expect to be able to import dangerous Canadian firearms into the US. We just can't handle the responsibility.

Lots of Canada is WILDERNESS! Wouldn't be prudent to have laws in Canada that limit how some citizen living in the Northern territories can defend themselves from the local carnivorous fauna...
