I guess you guys are next on the hook. 8 teams haven't won it yet. Cleveland, Texas, Houston, Milwaukee, San Diego, Colorado, Washington and Seattle. These last two haven't even been.

Cleveland won in 1920 and 1948.

Second thing today, I have messed up. I remember in last years World Series, the only guy left alive from that 1948 series was there. Forget his name, I need to restart the day..

Season is too long, I will start really paying attention in August. I know, its all about money. March Madness is done tonight...but its April. Hockey wont be done until May and that is nuts, and of course "The Boys of Summer" aren't finished until after Halloween. Personally I would like to see any of those teams in it this year. I wonder what baseball is like in Denver, in late October...

1969 was a bad year to open a franchise. The following began in 1969 and have never competed in the World Series; 48 dry years: Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and the Washington Nationals. The Seattle Mariners have never been there either but they have been around only 40 years.

Yep, Napoli will be a big help for the Rangers. Tonight Texas had a 5-1 lead and the Tribe came back and won 8-5. Napoli went 1-3 with 2 Ks. :))

Rick

Same old Napoli. Glad he's gone. Good job Tribe!

I doubt Napoli wasn't the only one that didn't go 3 for 3. Sounds more like poor pitching.

CenTexDave
April 3rd, 2017, 10:28 PM
Of course. Was not good pitching until Cleveland went to the bullpen. Napoli will probably have more KS than hits this year. Still like the guy though. Encarcion already is paying off as he went deep.

He's always had more Ks than hits. He's a good guy. Probably won't watch a game again this year.

I no longer watch baseball or basketball. If the NFL players ever go on strike I will stop watching them. Millionaires suing billionaires for the fans money just doesn't cut it with me.

CenTexDave
April 5th, 2017, 11:55 AM
Once again the Tribe knocks off the Rangers.
Didn't watch it last night, but read about it and the box score.
Gonna be real scary when Cleveland really starts to hit. Lindor hasn't gotten a hit yet this year. Brantley appears recovered from his two year injury.
GO TRIBE!

End the season now. Houston is undefeated and in first place. :)

CenTexDave

Kinda like basketball - just play the final 30 seconds. That usually takes an hour or so anyway.

Rick
April 5th, 2017, 10:37 PM
Tribe stole one tonight with Lindor hiring a grand slam in the 9th.

CenTexDave

2 HRs for him. Good way to get his first hits.
Napoli: 3 Ks. :))

Rick

They showed this after his grand slam.

Damn lady, it's only the third game of the season.

Saw that video on ESPN.com this morning and the accompanying remarks by the Rangers' broadcaster.
Then a while later saw it on Facebook and the audio by the Indians' announcer. Only Hammy can describe a homer!!

Rick

I think they'll take care of him.

CenTexDave
April 6th, 2017, 11:45 AM
Sure hope so. They signed Ramirez to a long term deal. Have Encarcion for 3 years. Signed Perez too. Need to resign Lindor and Santana.
They have a 2-4 year window and need to take advantage of it.

That's saying something, especially after the Tribe swept the Rangers in the season opening series.
The Tribe is starting to hit now. They'll be fine, although I think that Josh Tomlin (a Texas Tech product) is about finished. He's looked terrible

Tomlin's predicted demise may have come too soon. He's looked pretty good the last couple of starts.
Now that Trevor Bauer is a different story. At times Bauer appears unhittable, then gets the dumb a$$ or
loses concentration and suddenly it's 3-0. Kluber went on the DL and they brought up Mike Clevinger from
AAA to replace him. All he did was throw one hit ball for 5-1/3 innings. And the bullpen has been lights out.
They'll need to continue as they have, because the batting averages have plummeted faster than Hillary's
presidential campaign bid.

Hope you can figure it out, because I sure can't. They lose more at home, against mediocre teams, and then go on the road
and sweep the Astros, the team with baseball's best record. Now they go to Cincinnati for 2 before going home and playing 2
against the Reds at Progressive Field. Oh oh, another mediocre team so we'll be lucky if they split those 4 games.
It is maddening. Kluber is making a rehab start and hope he's good to go. Carrasco hopefully comes back from that pectoral strain.
Salazar is trying to lead the league in K's, but think he will end up leading the league in HRs given up. Bauer looked good against the
Astros, but with him he usually does but has one terrible inning which is his undoing. With Tomlin you get a good game one time, a
truly crappy one the next.
Encarnacion and Santana both can't even hit their weight. Their batting averages are a joke. These are your power hitters, and between
them are batting around .200 (Encarnacion) and .225 for Santana. A total of 10 HRs and maybe 25 RBIs. Kipnis is starting to get his
rythmn back, but at the same time Lindor and Ramirez are slumping. Chisenhall has been a nice surprise and hopefully Gomes' stroke
has returned. He sure looked good this weekend.
If it wasn't for the bullpen (arguably the best in baseball) this team would be 10 games under .500.
We're all waiting for the Twins to collapse. Doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon. Could be an interesting year.

CenTexDave
June 18th, 2017, 4:45 PM
Big update:
Encarnacion has caught fire and now has 16 homers. His average is now up to .261 - drove in all five runs today as the Tribe swept the Twins in a 4 game series and back into first place by 2 games.
Ramirez continues his torred streak of the last 3 weeks and is now hitting .313.
Santana continues to slump and is now down to .219. Trade bait?
The bullpen has been overused and hasn't looked like supermen the past 3 weeks, but this weekend they looked good. Miller moved to closer. Kluber and Carrasco appear to have gotten their rythmn
back. Salazar is now on the DL. Bauer has even looked good the last 3 times out.

CenTexDave
June 20th, 2017, 9:25 AM
I watched the Tribe blow the Orioles out last night on Yahoo Sports MLB Game of the Day link.
That was a massacre. Kipnis blasted a HR out of the ball park. Santana came to life. If he keeps it up then the Tribe should roll.
Kluber tossed a complete game, 3 hit shutout. He's definitely back to form. Ramirez had 3 more hits - 2 doubles and a triple.
Only Lindor failed to hit. The kid is in a major slump. Hope he comes out of it soon. The Tribe is now 2.5 games in first and won their 6th in a row, now at 37-31.
It was almost one year ago to the day when they went on their 14 game win streak.
And all of this has happened with Michael Brantley being gone - first for a paternity leave and now on the DL.

Rick
June 21st, 2017, 8:31 PM
Lindor might be breaking out of his slump. Doubled last night, homered already tonight.

CenTexDave
June 22nd, 2017, 7:24 AM
His boneheaded move on Tuesday - getting picked off of second base - cost us a run and the game. Sure he doubled home two RBIs after that but still........
Good game by Carrasco last night. Hope Clevinger keeps it going tonight.

CenTexDave
June 23rd, 2017, 12:49 PM
Clevinger got lucky last night - 6IP, two hit batters, a few hits and 4 walks yet only gave up 2 runs.
Twins come to Cleveland for a three game set starting tonight. Time to put the Twins to bed for the
season and sweep them.

Rick
June 25th, 2017, 7:46 AM
Just as they start looking to get into a rhythm, they drop two to Minnesota.

I have a ticket for Wednesday, Tuesday's game may be a possibility too.

CenTexDave
June 25th, 2017, 8:45 AM
It's the Curse of Rocky Colavito.
This team can't seem to win at home, but go on the road and kick butt.
Kluber deserved a whole lot better yesterday - both the runs he gave up were unearned. 7IP, 3 hits, 13 Ks.
They also have stopped hitting. Seriously, how much longer can Francona keep putting up with Kipnis' and Santana's bats?

CenTexDave
June 26th, 2017, 8:47 AM
Totally beyond mind boggling. Tribe goes to Minnesota and sweeps a 4 game set. Twins come to Cleveland and sweep a 3 game set.
Hope you bring the Tribe some luck this week.

I followed last night's game. Another wasted gem of a pitching performance by Clevinger - 6 innings, 2 hits, 9 K's, although one of the hits was a HR.
Hard to believe the Tribe could only get 3 hits off of Texas' lousy pitching.
Hope you bring'em luck tonight, Rick. But with Bauer pitching you never know.

Spent part of the morning and afternoon walking around downtown. The transformation of the place is nothing short of amazing. Sidewalk cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops. Of course, they have a nice casino now. I didn't go into it.

Then I went to Lakewood for lunch at Melt Bar and Grill a Cleveland original. It was so good.

I really wasn't taking a picture of the blonde. But I am not sorry that I did...;)

If they ever move Cleveland to the South, I'll gladly live there. My only objection is the winter. But then, that holds true for many cities, Montreal included. :)

CenTexDave
June 29th, 2017, 9:52 AM
Cleveland winters are brutal, particularly on the eastern shoreline heading east on the lake. Ask Rick - he grew up there in Conneaut. I grew up in the western suburbs (Rocky River and Lakewood) on the lake,
and didn't get nearly as much snow as the eastern suburbs. But it's that damn wind off the lake that kills you.
I don't parlez Francais anymore, so you can have Montreal! :)

CenTexDave
June 29th, 2017, 1:19 PM
Early game today so Texas can travel.
After 6.5 innings it's Cleveland-5, Rangers-1. Tribe has runners on first and second, bottom of the 7th.
Corey Kluber - 7 innings pitched, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 11 K's. :)

CenTexDave
June 29th, 2017, 2:07 PM
Final: Tribe-5, Rangers-1.
Kluber: 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 12 K's.
He's on track for another Cy Young Award. Throw out the first two months of the season - he was injured and still pitched, then went on the DL. Since he's been back he's been about unreal.

sojourner truth
June 29th, 2017, 2:51 PM
Well, any more, beating the Rangers is like saying you beat some AA team.

All of their starters but 2 are on the injured list, and most of their bullpen has been sacked for AA and AAA relievers who couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a bass fiddle.

Plus, they are all batting at .200 or lower except maybe for Andrus. No pitching, poor hitting, so they stink... as usual.

But the tribe did look pretty good, especially after turning around that 2-9 loser into a 15 to 9 win. Again, the Rangers bullpen gave the game away. It's no wonder the batters don't try too hard. Why get runs when the starters only last 4 innings and the bullpen gives up 3 or 4 runs an inning when they are called in. No incentive to hit at all really.

CenTexDave
June 29th, 2017, 2:58 PM
The Rangers came into the game today with a .500 record. Now one game under.
They aren't a bad team. Just the Astros are kicking butt this year.

CenTexDave
June 29th, 2017, 4:08 PM
Speaking of injuries - I've never seen so many injuries in baseball as during the last couple of years.
Pitchers I can understand. Even catchers. Those positions are most demanding. Throwing out your arm, getting pinged by a foul ball, collision at home plate, etc.
But some of these guys just don't come off as even being in good shape, at least not good enough shape to run. I played baseball from when I was 4 or 5 all the way
through high school. Then played a big while in the Army, but after a couple of years fast pitch softball was the sport. And as I got older changed to slow pitch (not as
competitive and we always had a cooler full of beer :). In all those years I never got hurt, never threw out my arm, never pulled a hamstring, etc.
I once read some major league baseball player stating baseball players are in better shape than basketball and football players. Guess he never saw David Wells or
Bartolo Colon. :))

fchafey
June 29th, 2017, 4:12 PM
Bartolo Colon......That man is the sh!t......love to watch him pitch. I was happy as heck he became a Met. Gone now, but a lot of fun to watch pitch.

He was an Indian and a Ranger. When the Tribe got him from the Montreal Expos he might have been the hardest throw in the bigs then.
Wasn't aware he was out of baseball now. I know he was playing earlier this season. Last year he finally hit a home run - watching him try to round the bases was a joke. Thought he was gonna pass out.

All-Star game rosters are out and Jose Ramirez deservedly is the AL's starter at 3B. Last year he was outstanding so the Tribe signed him to a lucrative long term deal. This year he's doing even better. Close vote by the fans until the last week when he pulled into first place in the voting.
Other Indians making the roster: Pitchers Corey Kluber and Andrew Miller - well deserved; Francisco Lindor - not deserved, has 14 HRs but his batting average has dropped to .250 but still the best defensive SS; Michael Brantley - having a good comeback year after his injuries but he is not hitting for power.
Would have liked to have seen Lonnie Chisenhall make the roster. He's hitting .305, 11 HR and 46 RBIs. Also, Carlos Carrasco should have been chosen as a pitcher.
But the Tribe kicked butt up in Detroit over the weekend. If not for Shaw coming on in relief and taking a dump, they would have swept the series. Clevinger pitched real well yesterday and the Tribe's bats were alive. Good thing
they hit well, because once Clevinger finished the 6th the relief pitchers tried to outdo Shaw and give the game away.

CenTexDave
July 6th, 2017, 10:46 AM
And home they come only to drop two straight to the lowly San Diego Padres as their bats totally went silent on Tuesday and not much better last night.
If they could win at home with the frequency they do on the road they'd have the best record in baseball.
Really getting frustrated following this team.

Over the years there have been a few incidents with squirrels running out on the field at The Jake (or as it is now known - Progressive Field).
Kind of weird, as the stadium is in downtown Cleveland surrounded by buildings, etc.

The bats erupted last night. Hope they continue. Sweep the Tiggers. :)

Addie Voss of the 1903 Cleveland Indians was the first major league pitcher to have a 3 pitch inning. The 2nd inning on August 8th, 1903 he accomplished this feat. CC Sabathia and Bob Wickman both did this in 2005. An immaculate inning or a 3 pitch inning has got to be awesome to see.

Normal - they were on national TV (ESPN) last night and lost to the lowly Tigers.
I could tell in the first inning that Kluber did not have his great stuff - but he still only gave up one run.
Maybe more of a concern is Kipnis pulled his hamstring Saturday night and Chisenhall left the game last night with a leg injury.

I haven't bothered posting much on here about the Tribe lately because.........well, they have decided to die a slow death.
Injuries galore. Lost another pitcher last night when he tumbled off the mound with an apparent arm injury.
Small wonder Terry Francona has had heart problems and needed surgery to correct it.

Wow, I have been tying to pay attention to the season, half of races are about settled. Especially the AL West I guess. Was flipping channels the other night and the Yankees and Twins were on and guess who was pitching? Bartolo Colon. He is a Twin. The announcers speculated as to why he is still around and apparently he is 8 wins shy of tying Juan Marachal for most wins by a DR pitcher. He lasted until the 5th, blew the 3-1 lead, ran out of gas and alas strolled off the mound. He might not ever get 8 more wins. He is 44. Still a lot of ball left to play and Cleveland is 4-6 in their last 10 and half game up in first, all is not lost.

I watched him throw for one inning. He looked ok, but sure has lost his fast ball. Seeing him try to field a grounder to the right of the mound was a good laugh.

Are they back? They just swept the Jays (I know - BFD), but totaled 23 runs are only gave up 5.
Salazars return from the DL was outstanding - 7IP, 1 hit, 0 walks, 8 Ks.
Kluber went 7.1 today, 5 hits, 1 run, 14 Ks.
Lindor appears to have broken out of his slump - hit the walk off homer in the 10th last night and had 3 hits today.

We'll find out tonight when they take on the not-so-good Cincinnati Reds in a make-up game.
I've been pondering what moves - if any - they will make with the trade deadline rapidly approaching.
Kipnis will be out for at least another month. Chisenhall still on the DL as is Jackson. We can live without
Kipnis - he was having a crappy season and I'd seriously be looking to trade him after this year. But Chisenhall
was having a great season and should have made the All-Star team - hitting over .300, had 17 HR and led the team
in RBIs. Jackson was also hitting over .300 when he went down.
Hopefully Salazar's start on Saturday is a sign that he is back.

Followed the game on the internet. After putting up 7 runs in the 2nd inning their bats went silent until the 11th inning. The Angels tied it up and momentum was going their way until the 11th.
Santana, who hit 2 HRs the other night, went 0-5 with 2 Ks and left a ton on base. Think if the Tribe is going to make a serious run this year they need to find a true first baseman. Trading deadline
is July 31.
Jackson is back. This little known outfielder has been playing real good for the Tribe. Came off the DL and had 3 hits last night.
The Twins' collapse is happening. Of course not winning a few games because they are playing the Dodgers is understandable, but they are now under .500. KC refuses to go away. And that's fine -
keep putting pressure on the Tribe. We now have overtaken the Red Sux and Yankees for the 2nd best record in the AL. The best? The Astros - who the Tribe has taken 5 of 6 against this year.

CenTexDave
July 27th, 2017, 4:15 PM
The Tribe finished the sweep this afternoon, 2-1. Just as fans were calling for his scalp, Trevor Bauer pitched 8 great innings. Onto Chicago where the Tribe has a three game set with the White Sox - the worst team in the AL which, hopefully means they won't drop 2 of 3 as they managed to do in SF to the crappy Giants.

Santana hit another HR today and Lindor drove in the winning run. Hope those two are now out of their slumps. They need to move Rameriz back to 3B. His average has dropped almost 20 points since they moved him to 2B because of Kipnis' injury.

8 in a row. Salazar looked good again last night, so he appears to be fully healed (only took a year on and off the DL). Santana launched another one last night. About time this guy started to live up to his potential. JRam had 4 hits. Brantley also went deep. Good
to see his power has finally returned. And with Kluber pitching today #9 looks promising.
KC is also on a hot streak, having won 9 in a row and nipping at the Tribe's heels only 2 games back.

When we loaded the bases in the 9th and Francona brought on Guyer to pinch hit I thought he had lost his mind. He was hitting for someone who had a .285 average; Guyer is hitting around .220.
But Guyer did what Guyer does best - got hit by a pitch. Game over.:)

Yeah, Willie Mays in the '54 World Series against the Indians. :(
Jackson is having a great year for the Indians. Batting well over .300 and is a good defensive outfielder. Doesn't get the hype he deserves. When, and if,
Chisenhall, who was having a great year, comes off the DL they'd best not send Jackson down to AAA.
The Tribe's only acquisition at the trading deadliing, relief pitcher Joe Smith from Toronto, pitched two good innings last night. Unfortunately, Shaw, then
Miller, then Allen messed this one up.
I still think the Tribe should have been more aggressive in the trading department before the deadline. Supposedly Kipnis is about ready to return. Big deal-

Salazar goes today for the Tribe. We'll see if he's truly back from his injuries. Kipnis is supposed to join the club this weekend from the DL and rehab at AAA Columbus. He wasn't hitting much before he went on the DL (twice this season on the DL), so if he starts off not hitting I'd park him on the bench. Ramirez can play 2B with no problem, and Urshela, although not much of a bat, is a real good defensive 3B. But, as we've seen, Francona seems to ignore stats and plays his favorites. Last night was a prime example as he brought in Shaw to close it out. Even Shaw, who gave up 3 hits and a run, couldn't mess up a 6 run lead.

Yeah, those two good defensive plays in the 9th saved the game for them. Miss that catch up high on the left field wall and the game is tied, probably with a runner on third.

Brantley our hurt again. Early reports are that he's done for the season.

CenTexDave
August 9th, 2017, 5:46 AM
Where did you read that? I read that the announcers at the game stated it was "just a minor sprain".
If he is finished, so is the Tribe. Chisenhall, who was having his best year and leading the team in RBIs, hitting .305 with 17 HRs, has been out now for over a month and won't be back anytime soon.
I've never seen so many injuries. Haven't read anything about Tomlin since he left a game last week with a supposed "tightness in his hamstring". And they need to figure out what is wrong with Carrasco.
Time for Encarnacion and Santana to step it up. Those two are paid big $$ to produce and they haven't been.

CenTexDave
August 9th, 2017, 6:17 AM
More on Brantley - he's to undergo an MRI this morning so probably won't know anything until early this afternoon.
IMO they need to seriously move him to 1B. While he is a very good defensive LF, his injuries have happened while playing out there. Move him to 1B. He's a lefty, so a natural
for the position. That would free up a possible trade of Santana or Encarnacion - both of whom are over-hyped, over-paid non-performers.
The Tribe has a nucleus of good, young players in Lindor, Zimmer and Ramirez. The seasoned vets like Kipnis and Gomes are on the down side of their careers offensively. The
window of opportunity will close soon. Kluber is now, I believe, 31 years old. Salazar and Carrasco are 30 or so. Chisenhall is always hurt, and now so Brantley.
Not too many more years to make a run.

Rick
August 9th, 2017, 7:13 AM
It was someone on Facebook who usually has good info. That's why I said early report. I hope it's not true.

Did you see Francona chewing out Zimmer for not running out an infield fly? That's a basic fundamental and I bet he won't make that mistake again.

CenTexDave
August 9th, 2017, 7:26 AM
We had chances to score in a couple of innings but did not. Zimmer will never do that again. I imagine he thought the infield fly rule was in effect, but it was not.

Rick
August 9th, 2017, 7:33 AM
No reason to think that since there was only a runner on first. He brain farted it and got chewed out. So it goes. It was a good win for the Tribe.

CenTexDave
August 9th, 2017, 7:38 AM
Good that Francona is finally appearing to chew out some of these guys' butts. I have always thought he was too lenient. I realize the players are grown men and
probably wouldn't take kindly to a temper tantrum. But they would not take kindly to getting their butts planted on the bench too. Problem is MLB only has a 25 man
roster, and with 13 of them being pitchers that doesn't leave you a lot of options to park someone for any length of time.

CenTexDave
August 9th, 2017, 4:16 PM
Afternoon game which the Rockies won in the 12th inning on a HR.
Again, Bauer pitched great. Indians had a 2-1 lead and the idiot Cody Allen gave up the tying run, then the HR in the 12th off of McAllister.
The once unhittable bullpen has turned into a huge liability.
But good news about Brantley - not as serious as they thought. Should be out for a week.

Rick
August 9th, 2017, 8:55 PM
Ya, I saw that about Brantley.

CenTexDave
August 10th, 2017, 12:01 PM
The Tribe traded an A league pitcher to the Mets for OF Jay Bruce. Bruce, who will be a free agent after this year, brings a very good bat to the Indians - 27 HR, 70+ RBIs.
If he successfully contributes, they should seriously try to keep him after this year.
At the same time, they should seriously take a a good hard look at where their payroll is all tied up on two overpaid and over-hyped players at 1B and DH. Santana and Encarnacion
have proven to be a joke. Both hitting at .250 or under, don't produce at critical times. Move Brantley to 1B before he is injured so badly he'll never play again. Brantley is an outstanding
defensive LF, but his injuries have all happened while playing LF. He is a lefty - natural fit at 1B. While at it, get rid of Kipnis. He has proven to be a waste.

Another melt down by the bullpen last night. Salazar went 5.1 innings, struck out a bunch, only gave up 1 run but gave up a bunch of hits and walks. Francona pulled him after 103 pitches.
Shaw relieved and did fine. The end came when Nick Goody, in the 8th inning, gave up a hit, the runner stole second and Gomes' throw sailed into the outfield, then hit a batter. Should have
been out of the inning, but up comes a weak hitter and plants one over the fence. The Tribe went quietly in the 9th, as they had done all game.
Kipnis left the game having re-aggravated his injury. Just bench this guy. Since back he has gotten one hit in 3 games. They are now saying Chisenhall may be activated this weekend, but
will probably take him a while to return to form.
They aren't hitting. Getting ridiculous.

So far so good tonight. Tribe puts up 5 in the 5th and lead 5-0. Carrasco perfect so far, but it's been the 5th inning lately that is his downfall.

CenTexDave
August 11th, 2017, 8:25 PM
5-0 thru 7. The no-no is gone, but only 1 hit and 9 Ks.

CenTexDave
August 11th, 2017, 8:57 PM
Tribe takes it 5-0. Carrasco 8IP, 2 hits 10 Ks. Fat Ed went deep.

CenTexDave
August 12th, 2017, 8:11 PM
Mike Clevinger pitches a great game, 7ip, 4 hits, 9Ks as the Tribe gets another shutout, 3-0!

CenTexDave
August 13th, 2017, 4:31 PM
Kluber, although not as his best, wins again, 4-3. Fat Ed went deep again.

CenTexDave
August 14th, 2017, 12:46 PM
Key make up game tonight in Boston. Bauer gets the ball for the Tribe. He's pitched well the last 3 times out, but... Then no rest as they fly to Minnesota.

CenTexDave
August 14th, 2017, 7:08 PM
At the end of 6 at Fenway, Tribe is on fire: 7-3. Fat Ed's gone deep twice. :))

Rick
August 14th, 2017, 8:04 PM
Watched the other night. With EE getting hot and Bruce batting behind him, they'll really stress out opposing pitchers.

I think Bruce's arrival snapped EE out of his slump. This could be good. Score enough and take the slumping bullpen out of the equation.

CenTexDave
August 14th, 2017, 8:09 PM
Ramirez, Fat Ed and Bruce batting 3, 4 and 5!! Put up some good numbers at Fenway tonight.
Bauer - 11 Ks. :)

CenTexDave
August 14th, 2017, 8:32 PM
If you would have asked many knowledgeable fans who would be leading the Tribe in victories in mid-August I'm sure all would have said Kluber.
Bauer just won his 11th game tonight. That's a half dozen good consecutive starts. Bauer, Carrasco and Kluber all have 11 wins.

CenTexDave
August 15th, 2017, 7:22 PM
Bartolo Colon pitching for the Twins against the Tribe tonight

Rick
August 15th, 2017, 8:35 PM
Tribe leading 3-1. Kipnis and Santana have homered.

Rick
August 15th, 2017, 8:38 PM
EE homered too.

CenTexDave
August 15th, 2017, 8:47 PM
Tribe had bases loaded in the 2nd and didn't score, but they have now come alive

CenTexDave
August 15th, 2017, 9:13 PM
Fat Ed has finally come to life - 5 HRs last 6 games

CenTexDave
August 15th, 2017, 9:30 PM
Jackson joined the HR derby with a 3 run shot. Tribe leads 6-1 after 7. Another great game by Salazar - 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 10 Ks

CenTexDave
August 15th, 2017, 10:00 PM
Santana went deep again. 8-1 Tribe bottom of the 9th.

Rick
August 16th, 2017, 4:55 AM
KC lost, six game lead for CLE.

CenTexDave
August 16th, 2017, 8:44 PM
Rainout tonight. Double header tomorrow. They are calling up Ryan Merritt from Columbus to pitch the second game.
Then a 3 game series with KC with Kluber, Bauer and Salazar pitching. Don't know why they skipped over Clevinger - last time out he was lights out for the enemy.

CenTexDave
August 17th, 2017, 4:15 PM
Tribe takes the first of a "twin" bill, 9-3. Carrasco wins his 12th Kipnis and Gomes go deep and Zimmer finally gets a hit!

Rick
August 17th, 2017, 9:21 PM
They lost the second game. Have you heard the extent of Ramirez' injury?

Rick
August 17th, 2017, 9:40 PM
Just saw on Twitter, x-Ray negative, he's okay.

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 8:02 AM
Just a bruise. X-rays were negative.
That second game they played like they were lifeless. I think they are tired. Now onto KC for a 3 game series. Need to take 2 of 3 there.

Rick
August 18th, 2017, 8:14 AM
Damn that, 3 of 3.

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 8:53 AM
This acquisition of Jay Bruce has really proven to be a good move, especially with Brantley out. Chisenhall should be back this weekend (along with Miller).

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 7:48 PM
1st inning at KC and it's already 3-0 Tribe. Kipnis and Bruce both go deep. This would be great if Kipnis is really back.

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 9:19 PM
6-1 after 6. Kluber out after 74 pitches. Don't know if he's hurt or what is wrong. His strikeout streak is over.

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 9:31 PM
9-1, top 7th. Bruce with another HR.:)

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 9:37 PM
Jay Bruce has been with the team for a little over one week: 2HR, 11 RBIs, batting .419 :)

CenTexDave
August 18th, 2017, 10:00 PM
Being reported Kluber left because of sprained right ankle.
Fat Ed just went deep. 10-1, 9th inning. :))

CenTexDave
August 19th, 2017, 9:07 PM
The Tribe is on fire. Shuts out KC tonight, 5-0. Bauer pitched great.

CenTexDave
August 20th, 2017, 7:07 PM
Tribe lost the last game of the series to KC. Salazar didn't have it today and got shelled. Good road trip though at 8-3.

CenTexDave
August 21st, 2017, 9:53 PM
Tribe beats the Red Sux in bottom of the 9th, 5-4.

Rick
August 22nd, 2017, 4:48 AM
That was a good win. Walk off bunt...haha

CenTexDave
August 22nd, 2017, 6:42 AM
Miller came on in relief and was gone after facing one batter. Think he strained his knee again. Not good. Need this guy down the stretch and for the playoffs.

CenTexDave
August 22nd, 2017, 10:02 AM
Santana left the game last night with an injury also. While he can, on occasion, provide a good bat he is frustratingly inconsistent. Bruce can play 1B. So can Encarnacion. And when Chisenhall returns try him there. He played 3B for
a couple of years for us; if you can play 3B you should be able to handle 3B. Brantley would also be a prime candidate. He's a lefty so a natural for there. Plus it seems Brantley's injuries always happen when he's playing LF.

CenTexDave
August 22nd, 2017, 1:42 PM
I'm kind of surprised the Tribe has been winning like they have. They haven't had a day off since the twelfth of never. The Monday before they traveled to Tampa, and that was two weeks ago. They did get a day off last week when
that rainout in Minnesota happened, but they had to play a make-up double header the next day. Their next scheduled day off is not until Aug 31. This will be one tired team.

Rick
August 22nd, 2017, 2:11 PM
They were supposed to be off the day they traveled to Boston for a make up game.

CenTexDave
August 22nd, 2017, 3:38 PM
That's the thing - still have a couple more to make up

fchafey
August 22nd, 2017, 4:39 PM
One has got to think the Indians tank is close to empty. I had to look it up. The Indians have been off 20 July and 8 August, that's it. Their next day off is 18 September.

CenTexDave
August 22nd, 2017, 5:30 PM
And Miller and Santana injured last night, but should get Chisenall back in another day or two. He's on rehab at AAAColumbus for the past week - hitting a mere .409.

CenTexDave
August 22nd, 2017, 5:54 PM
Miller and Salazar put on DL. Would explain Salazar's bad outing in his last start. Tomlin is getting a rehab start this weekend. No word on Santana. They are dropping like flies

CenTexDave
August 23rd, 2017, 6:21 AM
They're tired for sure. Last night - one hit by Lindor in the first inning (a HR) and they got stomped 9-1.

CenTexDave
August 23rd, 2017, 8:52 AM
And down goes Kipnis (again). I've never seen so many injuries on a baseball team before. Ridiculous.
Hopefully Chisenhall is back this weekend (rehabbing at Columbus and hitting over .400) and he can pick up where he left off. Put Bruce at 1B - no great loss that Santana is hurt.
And the Tribe has a young 2B at Columbus hitting .320. Time to call him up. Plan for the future - trade some of these guys that are always on the DL.
And I'm beginning to question Francona's nightly lineups - I realize he's in love with Guyer, but you play a guy hitting .220 over Austin Jackson who is hitting .318 and is better defensively?

Rick
August 23rd, 2017, 9:27 PM
They got shelled again tonight. Kluber gave up two runs left with a couple on and then the pen gave up four more.

EE hit a home run for the only offense.

They gotta get healthy quick.

CenTexDave
August 23rd, 2017, 9:50 PM
They have stopped hitting. Other than Fat Ed who went deep they are anemic at the plate.

mac
August 23rd, 2017, 11:04 PM
rangers still one up a few minutes ago but......it sure ain't lookin' good.....

good night all.....mac

CenTexDave
August 24th, 2017, 8:38 PM
Tribe kicking butt tonight, 10-4 after 6. Bauer about to win his 13th game - more than Kluber, and tonight he beats Chris Sale!!

Rick
August 24th, 2017, 8:51 PM
Good news. Came home from a meeting and saw the score.

CenTexDave
August 24th, 2017, 9:13 PM
Now 13-4. :))

CenTexDave
August 25th, 2017, 5:48 AM
It ended 13-6. Now we get KC in here for a series.

Rick
August 25th, 2017, 7:35 AM

Best part is the Yanks lost the game and are sure to lose Sanchez for a long suspension.

Rick
August 25th, 2017, 10:34 AM
Ya, they let him stay in the game after thugging around punching people on the ground.

Rick
August 25th, 2017, 1:16 PM
The Indians tweeted this.

CenTexDave
August 25th, 2017, 1:41 PM
He reminds of another rookie the Tribe called up decades ago - immediately went out and hit a HR, double in his first game: Manny Ramirez.

CenTexDave
August 25th, 2017, 7:57 PM
Merritt throwing a shutout through 6, Tribe up 4-0.

CenTexDave
August 26th, 2017, 10:22 PM
Not to be outdone, Clevinger duplicates Merritt and the Tribe gets another 4-0 shutout. Perez, Santana and Fat Ed went deep. Sixteen games over .500 now and looking good.

Rick
August 27th, 2017, 4:52 AM
That was a good game. Zimmer had one hell of a catch and his hustle to get on first was incredible. Then he stole second and went to third on a throwing error.

CenTexDave
August 27th, 2017, 12:45 PM
Zimmer's catch was truly outstanding, and he's starting to hit again which is good news.
We're pretty well set at the CF position - Zimmer and Jackson are both excellent defensively.
I read where Chisenhall is now going to make 3 starts at AAA Columbus before coming back, probably next weekend. I thought he was already playing at Columbus. This guy has been hurt more than an NFL player. While he was
having a career year, management best not plan anything long haul with him. Just gets hurt too much. Bruce has cooled off, but leaves Francona a lot of options.
Big problem if, and when, Brantley comes back. But, like Chisenhall, don't plan anything long haul.
Who stays? Who goes? Who starts? Who sits?
Plenty of outfielders; need another 2B or 3B that can hit. As far as I'm concerned, Kipnis is done forever.

CenTexDave
August 27th, 2017, 12:56 PM
Tribe is taking batting practice today. Still in the bottom of the 2nd, with two on, and it's already 5-0. Lindor has gone deep again!!

CenTexDave
August 27th, 2017, 1:18 PM
Update:. After 2 it is 12-0. :))

CenTexDave
August 27th, 2017, 2:53 PM
Final 12-0. Francona subbed throughout the game. Third shutout in a row and has probably finished KC for the year.

Rick
August 27th, 2017, 7:31 PM
Shutting them out three games in a row was impressive.

CenTexDave
August 28th, 2017, 7:17 AM
Would rather they waited until this upcoming series with the Yankees. Kluber goes today, Bauer on Tuesday and looks like Tomlin coming back for Weds' game. He made a rehab start at single A
and was shelled.

Rick
August 28th, 2017, 9:56 AM
Gotta take them when they can get them.

CenTexDave
August 28th, 2017, 7:40 PM
6th and tied 2-2. Lots of Ks both sides. Tribe has 2 hits, Yankees have 3. JRam goes deep 2X.

Rick
August 28th, 2017, 7:56 PM
Slamtana!

CenTexDave
August 28th, 2017, 7:57 PM
Starting to hit now.

Rick
August 28th, 2017, 7:58 PM
Looks like they have been working with Zimmer. Seems he's not trying to kill the ball.
