Going to New Orleans at the beginning of April for a weekend. Any recommendations? What to see and particularly where to find the best muffaletta sandwich.

I think the best muffuletta is at Central Grocery. Have beignets at Cafe Beignet or Cafe DuMonde. I like the streetcar that takes the St. Charles route through the Garden District as you see a lot of the beautiful homes and can also people watch. If you are so inclined there is a very nice aquarium as well as a nice zoo there.

If you like bars ;) there is the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone which is a revolving bar. There is Harrah's Casino if you are into gambling. I like Acme Oyster House for seafood. There is a French Quarter location that I haven't visited but have eaten at the Metairie location and it was great and reasonable.

Thanks for the suggestions. The streetcars sound like fun.

This sounds like fun, too. We'll be going with another couple, and will check them out. Thanks

I'd like to give you my recommendation but can't recall a lot of the time I spent there during a Mardi Gras about 40 years ago.
I do remember I was told I had a very good time. :)

I heard the aquarium is nice.

If you come back with a lot of beads, we'll know what you did. :))

the Commanders Palace might be out of order when you get there. the rivers in Louisianna are out of there banks. The Mississippi is out and the Trinity and the Sabine are out and at record breaking levels.....mac
